Does this mean that we (in Tennessee at least) own our software? Remember the software/game industry wanting us to beleive that we are just borrowing their code? This says their wrong! Or the tax wont go through. Either way I approve of this because it either legalizes buisnesses (or me claiming to be a buisness) to do what we want with their software (in Tennessee at least), or it will be deamed unreasonable because you don't own it. Win/Win who could loose?
wo wo wo... SOAP? what the hell -- soap is one of the two chemical reactions that has kept our society going.
Reaction 1: Fermentation -- we need to party
Reaction 2: Making soap -- we need to cleanup after our party
Those have been around for a LONG time! Check out wikipedia if you don't beleive me.
The earliest known evidence of soap use are Babylonian clay cylinders dating from 2800 BC containing a soap-like substance. A formula for soap consisting of water, alkali and cassia oil was written on a Babylonian clay tablet around 2200 BC.
So whatever, your right about most of those but soap has been around for a LONG time
It isn't really fair to call this a "open source bubble" it isn't realy. People are just throwing their money around, and with anything named open people cant really be expecting to make money through the code. I think this is more of a give a little get a lot scenario, not a bubble. If you (company A) give 1000$ to open source solution X and company B gives 1000$ to open source solution Y then both companies who donate (and presumably use the software) benifit. This is just a win win thing for people and they are realizing it.
Also, despite popular media beleif, when the dot-com bubble burst the dot-coms continued to exits. So you open source guys who go crazy when people sugest that their way will end, don't freak out -- if it pops you can still keep on the tradition.
I'm glad that someone is taking a logical look at the distribution system again. From what I understand this article to mean, the movie would be released as a DVD on the internet and simultaneously in theaters. WONDERFULL! I'm sick of paying $7 + $5 for movie popcorn and a drink when I could buy (to own forever) the movie later for $20 (provided I don't get it through another means before then). Two words are all it takes to describe my emotion... THANK YOU!!! I hope that this does well and others follow the example.
Just so that you don't have to do it, "I for one hail our new movie overlords" (or something to that effect)
While it is true that the government knows A LOT, even in a free society, about a person. But when you force them to carry a traceable ID card their power grows at a geometric rate - the ID card lets them know where you are so they can send a well equiped van (or extra large camel) with a hyperbolic mic to bug your house.
I think thats it an important right of mine to be able to call someone a "chicken butt" in my blog! I'll have you know I'm a strong supporter of the EFF, but even the best organizations take it a little too far sometimes.
The volunteer comunity is a very important part of computers, are you really one to say "don't volunteer!" The fact that your on Slashdot says that you know something about computers. It also says that you have downloaded, in your time online, a few files that are "pirated." Those "pirated" files are added by a volunteer. The client you were using was free (no self respecting nerd is dumb enough to pay for BT software) again, writen on a volunteer basis. You use Slashdot, which is moderated on a volunteer basis. You, based on this post, just (in my mind) told these people to stop the vital OSS spirit. I hope this changes your mind on the whole "him quitting idea."
May I be the first to say, I HOPE this is a joke... Its like mixing country and rap together, you get crap!. If this isn't a joke, google can only go down hill! We can add the clunkyness to googles search engine without the help of Yahoo! good ridens
If this material is sharp, and durable enough to cut, wouldn't this be a hazzard to us.... and what if terrorists got the "bright" idea to use this stuff to attack america, what kind of security would they put in place at airports?
Security Guard: Mrs. Anderson, I'm going to have to ask you to take off your shirt...
What will happen when the printers accidentally print in the wrong box, like my printer does so frequently, it will go in the Bush box when the e-trail says it was Kerry (or visa versa) who do they believe..... Printers are inherently flawed, and that's life and there will be problems with these printers at some point in time and that's why you need to pick one standard and not support two.
It's not just what we want but also what we need and deserve. You thought privacy mode in firefox/chrome was effective before!

Once again our WONDERFULL admins/moderators are bringing us truly important and not to mention relevant news. Thankyou Zonk!
Keep up the good work!

Girlfriend: "Get back in line you stupid male."
Me: "Yes ma'am"

"Wouldn't this just make it easier to pirate movies?" SHHH!!!! Don't tell them!
My phone can already play TV... and why would I want to see CNN / Cartoon network?

How did you post this if they removed your rights to use their internet, how did you post this?
So... can someone tell me how the government has a right to get their "stolen cookie" encrusted hands into this?
What the FUCK! Do those altoids cure cancer!?!?!?
Thank god for the Bill Of Rights, what would we do if the prices at best buy went up!
