  1. even more off topic... yea /. on Las Vegas Monorail Finally Ready To Open · · Score: 0

I thought the trains in San Fran were cool, but I was a little annoyed that they were saying how unique they are to have them in all North America. Toronto had, and still has, a very strong street car fleet, a bunch of which are the original "Red Rockets" from the 50's (40s can't remember) but the same as those in San Fran, in fact I think they even had a pic of one of the TTC cars in the SanFran cars but labeled it to another city... grrr.. why does the US hate Canada so?

but I agree.. SUV's are someones sick joke.. "hey the earth is getting polluted, lets build big BIG cars..." Hummers are good for the battle feild, but if I never see another Yuppie driving down to Ensenada on the highway in one of those gas guzzeling shit-waggons I'll be a happy boy (they don't go off roading.. just go to drink... I see them driving with beer in hand; real safe.. !)

  2. Conflct of interest on New Digital Audio Formats · · Score: 0

Waaaa haaaa sob.. I feel so old.. that aside, I agree. But on top of that I think they are trying to mess us up. When people realized that they could sell you the same thing 3 times, but in different formats they saw a great niche. But with MP3's they got kicked in the ass.. (Yea for basement computer geeks doing stuff because they can and realizing that it is useful) So I see the industry trying to regain their old paradime of sell it again in a different format, but this time they are using music encoding. I think the best example is Sony. Ya, the minidisk is cool,. but why couldn't they just have it work off Mp3 and not they're own stupid encoding format. iTunes did the same crap with their own format, the encoder on iTues which is preset on their crappy "I can't be used on an Mp3 player because I'm special" format. Could it be because both those companies make a shit load selling the music? Conflict of interest is what I see. The movie industry also caught onto this media jumping frenzy.. lets see, reel to reel, laser disk (now that was an ugly format) some other giant disk format that my friend had, VHS, ah yes Beta, DVD, next.. oh wait the internet came to the rescue.. and I need to see if I've finished downloading "Big Fish"

  4. Freedom of information is the only way on Sun Says Hardware Will Be Free · · Score: 1

The more we allow the corporation to control and sell information is the more we allow ourselves to be controlled and enslaved. I will resist and fight any attempt to control information in this way. I really like the science model of Aristotle where he believed that evolution of thought required freedom of information. I think the comparison of what we saw on US TV (and sadly Canadian as well) vs. what is in Fahrenheit 911 with respect to the treatment of Iraq people is a good example of how our media is controlled already! To control an operating system to the degree that they want to worries me. I think it is like controlling your digital sole.. It's a scary world, and the worst thing is no one sees it!

  5. Re:Hunting on Smart Bullets Phone Home · · Score: 1

Great.. now people can sit in their camouflaged camouflaged tent, shoot a deer from a few hundred feet, and casually walk after it tracking their bullet. Why not just hire someone to go kill the deer while the 'hunter' sits and suns himself..
