    Of course it will. I wasn't arguing that. I was simply pointing out the falacy that you can run MS Excel in 20MB RAM.

    Yes, Google Docs uses 100MB in Firefox. It also runs on all major browsers for all major operating systems. Where can you run Excel? Complaining about RAM usage for cross-platform software compared to native applications is pointless.

    I can run MS excel with 20 megs of ram. Google spreedsheet in firefox takes over 100 megs of ram.

    And how much RAM does your OS take up? You know, the OS that looks after all of the GUI controls (buttons, windows, scrollbars etc) that Excel uses? And by saying that, I'm probably not even scraping the surface of the number of resources built into Windows that Excel uses and relies on.

    That's actually the original meaning of the word awful. It literally meant "full of awe". Somehow the word awesome has taken on a positive sense over the years, and awful has gained its negative connotation. Fun with words!

    We've been doing it in Sydney since 2001. And we're using the same amount of water as we did in the 70s despite the fact that our population has double since then. Of course, the fact that 60% of our state is drought affected gives us a bit of an incentive, but there's no reason the same policies couldn't be implemented elsewhere.

    I'm a programmer, a graphic designer and I produce music. The book is genius, and highly entertaining. However, I've read it around 4 times now. Definitely a tough read the first time, but with each subsequent read you get more and more out of it.

    Japan also. Britain? You mean Scotland. It is spelled "whiskey" in Ireland.

    Windows Vista is really not as bad as people think. The key thing to keep in mind is to make sure your system has enough resources to run it, because it is demanding.

    ActionScript 3 is much closer to Java than JavaScript these days. Class-based (not prototype-based) OOP, strict typing, etc.

    We both paid for the same game. We both got the same game. I have the option of paying for additional content, you don't. We still paid for and got the exact same game though.

    No one uses CRTs anymore. I've worked in several design/advertising agencies and visited many more. Web/print/TV. We're all using LCDs hooked up to DVI ports.

    Flex Builder from Adobe is based on Eclipse! You can install it as a plugin into an existing Eclipse install, or install the stand-alone version. The open-source Flex SDK and compiler are both free if you don't want to shell out for Flex Builder.

    There's FDT, another Eclipse Plugin for Flash/Flex development.

    There are also completely open-source options for developing Flash/Flex content, in Eclipse, or the IDE of your choice. Windows, Mac or Linux.

    I haven't touched the Flash IDE for the last four years.

    DRM is the only way to stop the pirates in the first few weeks.

    Then the developers should remove the DRM after the first few weeks once it has been cracked?

    Or maybe they should just not bother with DRM in the first place because it only affects and impedes legitimate customers.

    What a ridiculous argument.
