If MSFT put ad-block, on, by default, on internet explorer, and purposefully blocked all online advertising: 1. they'd be heros with the masses, who hate ads. 2. they'd DESTROY google's profit system 3. the story would be back about who can get on the desktop. It's a thought....

I understand that it doesn't work at this point, sorta like "don't cross the streams" from ghostbusters.. But really, we're talking about a long series of math problems at this point, why not interleave? I understand the math is hard, that's why intel has all of those Phd's. Getterdun. I wants me some Quake 9 a 4.2 billion frames per second. Plus, programming multithreaded is all superhardish!

  7. It's not about games, it's about SCHOOLS on Bunk Camp - Apple Gets It Wrong? · · Score: 1

Seriously, do you guys not see the hugeness of the application of boot camp to school purchasing? What campus on the planet is going to have seperate Mac and PC labs now? Just buy macs, and BAM! both labs in one room with 1/2 the hardware and support staff.

No informed campus IT department will even halfway consider any other option, it would just be asinine at this point. I think they will probably even jump their upgrade cycles, just to save in support hours.

Going to hafta put up big signs to show folks how to reboot tho.. :)

  8. It's Not Binaries... on What Corporate Email Limits Do You Have? · · Score: 1

I'm sysadmin for a mid-sized company, which runs itself like a madhouse startup. One of the owners has been pummeled correctly into using our centralized file storage, and does so with glee. His .pst is still over 7GB. He attaches small pictures occasionally, but he never deletes anything, and writes nearly 300 emails a day. The man is a communications junkie, our asses were literally saved when MS lifted the 2GB cap on Office XP's .pst file, it was weekly triage to keep his e-mailer afloat. Some folks are just mad apples about their e-mail.. go figure!

I'm out in north seattle, and I charge $25 an hour.

If you're really cool, (or really hot) that goes down to 20 or 15, and if you're a serious pain (rich, over 60 and annoying, impatient soccer mom with skrypt kiddies/children) you go up to $35.

That's Edmonds tho, in New York, sheesh, I've got nothing to base it off of..

"short-circuiting the democratic process" I think you're talkin' about 4 years ago, in florida, right? Bush, and his supporters in florida, the senate, and the supreme court stole these last four years from us, and 1008 american lives. Hopefully the electorate will figure it out this time and smite W.'s re-election run with force and glee.
