I agree with you, although, when an acronym is widely used within a certain discipline but not commonly known to the general populous, as a reader I feel it's good form to use the acronym spelled out like so...
CVP (Chemical Vapor Deposition)
I'm not sure if this is the case with Chemical Vapor Deposition or not but my point stands.
Pretty scary yes. Even scarier is the general populous is either unaware or doesn't care about our gradual loss of freedom, one bill at a time. Big media certainly isn't gonna report anything controversial, without vast amounts of riches my single vote is powerless. The internet is all we have.
I was talking to a friend of mine about this the other day and his attitude was like "I have nothing to hide, if that's what it takes to capture terrorists then I'm all for it".
If they quit making so many draconian laws, I'd quit breaking them. Just because something's illegal doesn't make it wrong.
The grandmothers and 12 year olds may have thus far got off fairly easy, just wait until would be promising young college students start doing hard time and become disillusioned with the system and decide to change their majors while in the slammer.
Freenet's data is all encrypted. They wouldn't be able to prove you were sharing illegal content.
Freenet and it's ilk will grow in direct relation to the amount of regulation thrown down upon us.
The [i/I]nternet was born free and too many of us want to keep it that way.
Of course by saying that I've just got myself thrown on the government's commie watch list.
Although various input devices may excel in different circumstances, the keyboard is by far the most versatile.
True, the QWERTY wasn't exactly designed with ergenomics in mind (rather to prevent the keys from jamming on early typewriters), unlike the Dvorak layout. I actually used a Dvorak for a short period and taught myself to type on one (albeit slowly) it eventually proved far too annoying being the only guy in the known universe to be using one of these.
PCs don't just go bad, components go bad. The quality of any given PC can be determined by the quality of the components therein.
Apple has complete quality control of their hardware, whereas with x86 PCs any manufacturer can throw together whatever crap meets their bottom line, throw it all in a 'cool' case, print a bunch of big numbers on the outside of the box and watch the lemmings flock bearing their wallets.
If you want a quality PC then you need to spend the equivalent you'd spend on a Mac or hand pick each and every component and build your own like I do.
Actually my toaster has a chip in it. It says 'micro chip controlled' right on the front
And let me tell you, you've never eaten toast until you've had toast from a digital toaster.
I'm sure it's a very basic heat sensor and more of a marketing ploy than anything.
Actually when I was a kid (in the 80's) we used one of those chromed out 50's toaster. Only ours wasn't silent. It went "click-click-click-click-click-click-..." for a couple of minutes the "Pop". mmmmToast.
I run Windows on 1 out of 3 PCs. The other 2 are Debian and Slackware. I run Windows because I have to, which I think proves my point further. Their buggy software for the masses is the norm. Although I update my 2000 Pro box regularily which is hardly the norm. Once support for 2000 stops I'm officially done with Windows. I won't install XP or Longhorn or any other RMd bulshit they try to sell me.
You're addicted to eating?! WTF does that mean? Sure I'll use Windows at work...W/E. It's just a job. Stop being such a sellout.
Personally I think a poke at the joke itself would have been more funny...
1. Write book about Open Source.
2. Get review posted on Slashdot.
3. Profit!
Oh wait.
Yes, Microsoft has done the impossible. I've always told my family and friends that it wasn't possible for image files to maliciously damage their PCs.
Why is it that the surveillance video from bank robberies and jewelry store heists is always of such poor quality? It's always fuzzy, black and white, jittery video.
Video technology at the consumer level is inexpensive and high quality. You'd think a bank of all places would drop a few grand on halfway decent video equipment.
They are virtually indistinguishable from natural diamonds. Only sophisticated spectroscopy equipment can tell the difference.

Tell that to my mom and her spyware/malware infested machine (well at least until I had a look at it).

Fear is a very powerful tool indeed.
"Just relax and let the hooks do their work."

Not such an original idea after all.
I was just thinking of building a MythTV module to allow this software to interface with .XModmap or something to emulate keyboard commands.

Unless it's funny because they're laughing at him.
Were they perhaps in a parked car on the side of the road?

All Darth ever wanted was to be a 'real' boy.
Why would Anakin revert to a younger state while Obi-Wan remains the same age at which he was killed?

I stand corrected however. Kudos to Microsoft.
Let's see if we can go more than a few days days this time.
