You seem to be misunderstanding me or I am misunderstanding you. And yes, I agree handles can be deceptive. Sorry, I didn't mean a personal attack.
I, too, am all for the Declaration of Independence, the security of our borders, and a stable business environment. Maybe we agree on the ideas but not on how to implement them best. Oh well.
I said more freedom, not ultimate freedom. I said fewer programs, not no programs. It's it odd that the first thing that people point at is "no policemen no firefighters oh no chaos!!!!" No, not really. There's a lot you could reduce (not even CUT, but just REDUCE) before you'd be left with "oh man, the only thing left to cut is policemen and firefighters." How about we put those near the bottom of the list to cut/reduce? People and companies have to make budget cuts/reductions, how about the government tried it too? If you haven't noticed, the national debt is kinda high. And yes, it's Bush's fault too. But not solely Bush's fault. It's pretty much everyone's fault.
I agree with you. If you notice, the post I was replying to was talking about jobs, not borders. I completely agree that national defense, which would include protecting the borders, is the government's job. I guess the fact that the guy's name is "Marxist Hacker" might be a clue to his position on things.
It's not the government's job to create jobs, if that's what you're saying. What we need is fewer "programs" (decrease public sector) and more freedom (increase private sector). So yes, the government has failed, but I'm not sure if it's failed the way you're implying.
Except that some of us "never" "boot." I S3 all the time. And you know if MS made updates mandatory w/o user intervention or any option of NOT updating,./ would go bananas.
Not if you want to play online. Haven't you figured that out yet? Pirated serials won't work for online play. Not when 300,000 people (random number), each from a different IP, all try to connect with the same serial. So no, the pirated version doesn't win "hand's down."
Most of the benchmarks show that Vista is just slower than XP.
Gaming Performance: Windows Vista SP1 vs. XP SP3:
If you were expecting a huge drop in performance as your eyes scanned from the XP to the Vista results, well, surprise! As many a tech analyst predicted, Windows Vista's gaming performance conundrum has largely been solved, and it was mainly due to early graphics drivers.
In fact, I'd been planning to run a few other gaming tests, but the results from these were so uninteresting that further work didn't seem merited. Love it or hate it, Vista is performing far better than it used to.
I guess getting JavaScript and Java confused isn't a surprise when you see that they call the Ctrl key the Cntrl key. "For instance, Cntrl-tab has been added as a shortcut to quickly switch between tabs."
Why no Gears for offline Gmail access at very least, Google?
I believe it's called POP/IMAP access, and it's been around a long time. Oh, downside - you might need a program called Outlook/Express or Thunderbird. Free download available.
I just arbitrarily said "30 seconds," since instant, from the article, is not definite: "a very short amount of time." Going from 60 to 30 might qualify as "a very short amount of time"...
From the article:
The concept is called 'Instant On'. 'Instant On' takes your computer from being completely powered down or 'turned off' to being usable for a few specific activities in a very short amount of time."
Glad they clarified that powered down and turned off are the same thing. S3, anyone? Small power draw and "instant on" with "full features." I wonder if instant on will be (much) faster than resuming from hibernate. It would be hard to justify an instant on for limited features unless it's a whole lot faster than resuming from hibernate.
"Obviously the systems that are greater than 60 seconds have something we need to dramatically improve- whether these are devices, networking, or software issues."
So, instant on will shave it down to... 30 seconds? Also have to wonder if this will be standard in 7 or something you get to pay extra for.
The free demo version of Replay Media Catcher allows anyone to watch 75 percent of anything recorded and 100 percent of YouTube videos. For $39, a user can watch everything recorded.
One Web site -- www.tvadfree.com -- explains step-by-step how to use the video stream catching software.

Forrester analyst James McQuivey said he doesn't believe the video stream catching technology will entirely derail the advertising-supported business model used by the networks for online video.
"It's too complicated for most users," said McQuivey, noting that file-sharing services like BitTorrent already exist but only a small percentage of people use them.
See? He (whoever he is...) thinks piracy won't be a problem... it's too complicated to pirate stuff... people would rather pay... something like that anyway. And he's an analyst, so that makes it official, right?
Just because you order from one site doesn't mean your stuff will arrive at the same time. I ordered from Newegg, and the parts shipped from three different warehouses - CA, TN, and TX.
Nice point... except that they (FB) are not blocking bugmenot, they are allegedly blocking people from saying "bugmenot.com," and bugmenot.com doesn't list facebook, and facebook is free... so your point is...?

I can't. My spam-blocker is blocking it.
Just kidding...

I live in Oklahoma City, OK. Don't move here. Ever. For any reason.
Linux comes in a box? ;)
tag - "goodluckwiththat" ;)
If I had mod points right now I would mod this funny. ;)
You also wouldn't be commenting on this... point made!
If i could tag a post, it would be "goodluckwiththat" because I really doubt there would be a "suddenoutbreakofcommonsense."

That's why he said "need" to try. To me, that implies that you've tried all the rest and are left with the last one.
Ok. Sorry. I guess I didn't realize who the guy is, and/or why many people didn't actually cash their check. +1 ignorance. Sorry!
He could still PayPal... (?)

Yes I was being quite sarcastic. Bittorrent isn't very difficult to figure out...

I thought part of the point was avoiding tax dollars...?
