To download video requires Windows Vista Home Premium or Ultimate required because it uses Windows Media Center. To watch video requires Silverlight... which requires Windows.
HL2 crashes if I turn on 6x FSAA and/or 16x anisopteric filtering. Actually, I think the video card crashes because I have to reboot. Drives me nuts. New computer build. I hope it's a driver issue that will be resolved... ?:-/
Sorry, I guess I was unclear. My point is an email takes up more of the 160 character limit with "from: from sub: subject body" where as IM is "username body"
Well obviously everything is different by carrier. I believe with AT&T you can turn it off online in your account. US Cellular you can't but you have free incoming texts anyway... etc...
Well, the other special thing that AIM does is makes a longer message body per SMS possible. Email includes subject and sender with every message (even if subject is blank), which makes the entire message longer, which means a shorter body length, although it will split into 2+ messages if necessary.
Actually, I don't have internet, but my phone comes with AIM/MSN/Y! "apppppppsssss" (aka "apps" ?) and with AT&T's unlimited text messaging plan, I can send and receive unlimited IMs as well, so it works both ways, either with unlimited internet or unlimited texting. Whee!!!!
My parents pay $50/mo for cable (1.5mbps down, I think.) They are hardly above the average computer users. Actually, my dad just reads the news (BBC), and my mom checks email, does financial stuff, and shops online. That's about it. Streaming audio/video? Downloads? Forget it. Nice thing is I can VNC for remote help - they're 800mi away.
I had a devil of a time trying to convince them to switch. I would tie up the phone line for hours with dialup (yes, we had cell phones at the time.) They finally switched when a $35/mo deal for 6mo came around. Now they think $50/mo is too much, but they don't want to go back. I think if most people had a shot at broadband, they'd have a hard time going back, too.
Keepass on a USB stick? Although if the problem is phishing, I guess it wouldn't help much. Anyone smart enough to use keepass should be smart enough to see a phishing attempt - yes or no?
I know we're talking Palm here, but my girlfriend's laptop (IMB/Lenovo) has been in for repairs for over a month now. Send it out May 19. Was expecting a pretty quick turnaround. After all, Dell replaced my motherboard and got me my laptop back in about 2 days (overnight DHL both ways, they paid.)
Not so fast. Literally. The box was overnight DHL. Nice. Good start. We sent it out. After about a week, we called. "We don't have the part." Ok, fine... we'll wait. What else can we do?
Another week later, they tell us, "Oh, we just ordered the part that she needs." Hello? You're kidding, right?
Well, it's been over a month now, and I'm still not sure why we haven't received the laptop. Right now, I'd be ecstatic if they offered us the money back. I'd take it and run. Customer disservice at its finest. My gf was supposed to be able to talk to a manager (as if that would do any good), but as her call was being transferred, it got disconnected. Huh. Funny how that works. Finally, a manager did call her (a few weeks later) and told her that if it takes "much longer" they'll just send her the laptop (unrepair) and send someone to repair it. How is that going to be any faster???
My Phone holds 500 texts. I clear it out 2-3x a week. They haven't complained yet. And not all of that texting is to people. I use Google Mobile to get info, and I get scores from 4info.com.
Has anyone looked into "Unlimited Texting" recently? With Cingular/AT&T: Unlimited text, photo, video, and instant messaging for everyone on a family plan: $30. Maximum number of people on a family plan: 5.
30/5 = $6 for unlimited texting.
Ok, that doesn't include the cost of the voice part of the plan that you obviously need to have.
I don't know the maximum size of a MMS, but it's under a MB, around 700k I think. That'll move data around pretty quick-like, too.

It's not "he," it's an optional steam system survey.

You mean 17.76%... unless Vista 64 bit doesn't count as Vista?
Is anyone surprised? At all? Seriously...

It's not really free when you're forced to pay $40/month for data, now is it???
If you don't use SMS, you can turn pay-per-use off. Not the best solution, but not much else you can do.
and a flat rate system like SMS just isn't going to cut it..
but a flat rate unlimited internet plan will cut it????

Easy. The trick is to not have your friends SMS you. Have them IM you!!!!!!!!11111

KDE 4.1 Beta 2 â" Two Steps Forward, One Step Back?
One step forward, two steps back? If the "old version" is better than the "new version" ???
I thought it was 640k?

7-9mbps down, 512up, $30 :D Cox, Oklahoma City (although the city itself is terrible)
I thought it was due to Euro2008 coverage on Espn360.com
Thai = Vietnamese, I believe :D ;)
No big deal. Details aren't important on slashdot
I guess we're all getting ripped off and don't know it... ;)
