Just wait until spyware companies get ahold of this technology. Hey... it's leagal and they are "good" worms. Want to buy this great new dvd?

I am not trying to be over critical, but they are not refugees. Everyone refers to them as such, so let me offer a dictionary defenition. refugee - One who flees in search of refuge, as in times of war, political oppression, or religious persecution. http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=refugees Wikipedia ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refugees

/. is a major way for me to clear my mind and get the creative juices flowing. It's one of the few places that the sys admins wont pick up on and freak out about me using the internet for personal use during work. Afterall, I NEED SOME WAY TO CLEAR MY MIND BEFORE I LOOSE IT!!!! :)

  4. In the classroom on Cheap Cell-Phone Detector · · Score: 2, Interesting

I can see this technology being implimented in the classroom where most mobile devices are prohibited, especially in high-schools. Professors get sooo agitated when someones cell goes off... This may help them in detecting if students are messaging during class... or even worse... a test.

  5. Re:"Children don't have a "right" to privacy." on Japanese Schoolchildren to be Tagged with RFID · · Score: 1

Agreed... what's worse is that usually the same people that say children have the right to do what they want, tend to be the same people that feel parents should loose their kids when something goes wrong. It is so easy for a parent to loose their child in this country. All it takes is someone spreading rumors or blowing a situation out of proportion. Child services will be on you like a monkey on a banana.

  6. It took this long... on Gates Predicts DVD Obsolete In 10 Years · · Score: 2, Interesting

It took this long, and there are still people without DVD players, both in thier computers and for thier TVs. Games and other applications that require multiple cds still do not use DVD technology mainstream. I doubt that DVD will die untill its replacment is competative in every way. It is difficult to get the world to change to a new way of doing things.

  7. Old Stuff... on The History Of Pentium · · Score: 2, Interesting

And to think... my uncle is still using his 75MHz Pentium every day. The funny thing is it still fits his needs and sees no reason to upgrade. It takes forever to boot up and get into his AOL account, but he just leaves the room for a while... watches tv... grabs a snac... and by then it should be there for him. I have been trying to convince him to upgrade for years, but I guess you could say he is getting his moneys worth.

  8. imo on Building A Homebrew Robotic Lawnmower? · · Score: 1

The following is a site that may help you build this robot. Using a palm pilot as the processing unit may be very helpful and inexpensive. http://www-2.cs.cmu.edu/~reshko/PILOT/ You could also create a computer model/map of your yard and simulate the AI in the model using bruit force to find the best possible path. That way the computer can figure much of the desired path out for you. Keep in mind the heights of various parts of the terrain... wouldn't want it to flip over and create a potential health hazard. Another option would be to place small inexpensive magnets in the ground to help the guidance system. You could detect these magnetic waves to see where to or not to mow (Sort of like the new "autopilot" cars they are working on in Calif.) I do not fully agree with the slow moving idea because the point is to get the job done quickly so you don't have to worry about what could go wrong (Peace of mind). Also, would you mulch or bag... If you bag, you will have to dispose of the clippings.
