Do your respective parents read PA? I would think they are less than thrilled about the language and images. P.S. My mom loves Penny Arcard =D

What? Which product would that be? Certainly your ideals or special intrests affect the GOAL of the engineers in some way.

I don't care about the advantages, that's some seriously creepy stuff. I'm never eager to jump and say "LOOK! THAT THING/PERSON IS RUNNING AWAY WITH OUR RIGHTS!", but RFIDs still scare me..

  4. Interesting... on Roll Your Own Television Network Using Bittorrent · · Score: 1
While I find the concepts presented here to be exciting, and even potentially fruitful, I fear for the kind of crap we may find entering the mainstream television market.. as if it weren't horrible already, now anybody can go ahead and just send out home videos and what-not..

While it's true that we will be able to choose what we see, I'd argue that the sudden lack of cost in producing a program may instigate a whole new wave of crappy programs...

I don't know about many P2P programs, but Kazaa Lite allows you to decide which folders you are sharing, or if you are sharing at all.

However, I suppose Bittorrent is more efficient, because you can be kind and share your seed without sharing a bunch of other files. So.. kindness without the hassle.

And people say we aren't becoming a socialist world..

  6. Piece of shit.. ner? on William Shatner to Star in New Reality TV Series · · Score: 1
I don't know what Shatner's problem is. He's been a has-been since before he stopped starring in Star Trek films. He can't act worth a damn. He's not the pretty Kirk he used to be. He's trying to hard to have an actual career, and it's making him look worse than he already did.

    Shatner needs to just retire.

  7. Re:In other news... on Optimizing News Sites For Google News · · Score: 4, Interesting
At the announcement that Google would become a private company (please excuse poor use of terminology), I've heard a lot of SE Gurus talk about the negatives that would follow. According to said Gurus, Google is incredibly influential because it is turned to the most for searches. The way sites are indexed can give them a big lead against other sites.

People are damned cynical. I think that Google will be recieving a lot of flak in the future for doing what it should do as a company: make a profit. If leaning towards the right makes them a buck, then I find it hard to believe they'd do otherwise. It may not be right, but it is their right.

Yes, because world domination will solve all our problems.

Perhaps it would send out one last emergency transmission.

"God, help me! I was just doing my job! Oh my GOD!"

What would the police think of that?

  10. That old bone song.. on Russia, China World's Biggest Spammers · · Score: 3, Interesting

It's interesting how the Russian Mafia is helping American Marketers take advantage of Chinese Equipment. My question is: How involved are the actual Chinese people? Are they all victims of circumstance, or are they helping in some way?
