  2. Re:Some amazing news! on Woman's Voice Restored After Larynx Transplant · · Score: 1

Actually, the movie bicentennial man approaches this in reverse,
a robot who indirectly gets AI, now is thinking on his own,
and starts to make body parts for humans that last longer then real ones,
but he also makes organic parts for robots to know what it is like to age

The lines blur, that we will become more machine then man, into a full mechanical body will we transfer our consciousness, therefor will be fully robotic, then when everyone has life spans of 100 years or so, some of them will get bored, and start creating organic bodies again to re transfer out of...

this is the cycle of life between merging of 2 species (robot and man)...we will always want to change things, even when we first started, it was opposite of what we want now or tomorrow.

  3. Some amazing news! on Woman's Voice Restored After Larynx Transplant · · Score: 1

This gives hope to just how much we can do to damaged body parts, even reattaching nerves from a different owner to a part/organ, which obviously needs nervous system, to know when to send a command to the larynx that you want to say oh, uh, or ah.... very cool indeed! Cant wait till we are able to exchange info from a synthetic body part to organic nerve endings in order to come up with cybernetic body parts that actually do interface with the body seamlessly

  5. problematic... on Underwater Nuclear Power Plant Proposed In France · · Score: 1

    CONS
    1) no one can easily verify security protocals being taken (not like the UN can just walk in to see whats going on)
    2) if something goes wrong another aquatic ecosystem is gone, and this one much worse then the BP oil spill...with effects felt for generations afterwards
    3) makes it more prone to accidents as containers being used are now prone to water corrosion at a much quicker rate then just regular atmosphere.

    PROS
    1) cooling is actually going to cost less, to keep the generator at a cooler temperature...
2)fish with 3 eyes from simpsons start showing up
    3)...sorry cant think of any.

I agree with you here, however, if the programmer aging as he is actually does keep up with the times, then there would be no need to hire a new hot developer, because that would be the old hot developer now...
I believe the point is that if we think business wise, it is smarter to not let your programmers evolve thereby keeping your posts rolling and using the excuse you did not keep yourself updated, but what about the guy that does, how can you get rid of him after 10 years when he still does keep up on his own...dont forget most companies also want reasons to can people to keep the line slim and young and costing less in the long run with benefits and pensions and all....if you take that away, then they will all have to scream rape to get you out,.

  16. They are going far on Facebook Opens Up Home Addresses and Phone Numbers · · Score: 1

Into the future, I see facebook
    1) tying all info of personal nature for someone together, where the gov. failed to do so...
imagine if you could tie in all your personal data, so you only need to access one point to get to it.
medical records, drivers license passport, etc..etc..
then you would only need your facebook id and also a terminal to access it, and you coudl even add in your retinal scan and fingerprints

    2) making a one stop place for all info instead of too many places for many diff. things.
all gov. and country agencies, would go to facebook for all sorts of info...maybe not the bad stuff( or maybe even so...)
cops go there for your fingerprints, banks go there for your info when they need to see who you are...
customs agents would go there to see your travel history and also your passport id
    etc...

    3) eliminating identity theft using a public sector as means of proof to peronality and identity.
If everything si there, even your cell phone no and address, then nothing is private, then no one can copy you as you are already visible to the world, identity theft is only possible if there can be doubt as to who the person looks like, or
what there signature is, if all this is already on facebook, and when you go apply for a loan, facebook tied into the banks system, they would see the person is not who they are intending to be, where as today, so many fraud theft are happening because the info is just not there...

    4) Security, if facebook got to the point, i think they are aiming for, then they would x4 in value if not more, i am sure they could come up with a very secure way of regulating the data, even from hackers on the inside, say a journal is done every
month, and logged somewhere, then any changes are flagged for point checks later, then if someones picture has changed and say a facial recognition software analyses that the changes are too great (someone adding a picture to change the original for a scam or identity theft or something) then they could send an email to the admins who would then contact that person etc....the possibilities are endless!

Boomerang comes included with certain models (or onstar depending where you are) of which the cops/feds can get a warrant to use the inherent kill switch of your system, which in the near future could happen to avoid having raving maniacs running from the cops at high speeds in rural areas.

I am ok with this, if you are stupid enough to go through residential areas at 150km an hour to get away from cops, let them just kill switch your car, and then arrest you...all new cars should have this in case....now the NEW problem comes in securing from any other miscreants from contacting onstar or boomerang (direct or indirect such as hacking) to send a command to stop your vehicle.
