I agree to a certain point, I find sometimes the reverse is true also, when you have multiple pages of code because everybody is either tab happy, or thinks that because you have a line of code that extends a bit too far, that it should be written on 2 or 3 lines to make it readable, I don't agree.
I have seen some code that (especially using the new regions with m$ vs2005), we have an easier time maintaining code, by far, by making more one liners then would be the norm... example dim obj as ttt.ddd.walmart.component = _
new ttt.ddd.walmart.component(id,code) obj.SetLocation(storeFront,branch,division) obj.BuyItem(product, _
price,_
qte,_
rebate,_
branch,_
divison,storefront,etc,etc,etc)
we put this instead dim obj as ttt.ddd.walmart.component = new ttt.ddd.walmart.component(id,code) obj.SetLocation(storeFront, branch, division) obj.BuyItem(product, price, qte, rebate, branch, divison, storefront, etc, etc, etc)
Because, when talking about parameters, usually breakpointing into the function lets you see what your params are anyways, so we do not bother tagging that line, instead tagging the line inside the function to break on. when you read ours, its simple to read, when you try to read the usual 20 lines for 1 function call, it gets tedious fast!
I was called the one liner man for a long time, and toned it down, but did end up showing the effectiveness of one lining when you can, you spend less time scrolling up and down and side ways and makes the code more readable when you don't worry too much about the params, but more about the movement/point in code.
All in all, it all stems from where the person works if they are close minded, and do not want to change with the times, or open minded and willing to listen to all their employees to bring about new , more effective ways to code.
I had a friend once that was caught by the police, but under extremely specific circumstances, and did not go to jail, although the police threatened to put him on some sort of watch list, even though it was all very overblown. MSN is not just for kids, you can not call it a teen social network, EVERYone uses it these days.
He happened to be on a group forum of some type, and ended up chatting with this perticular adult(?) seeing as when he asked what age she was, she had said she was 19 going on 20 ( I have to admit it was pretty young even for me...) but legal, so he continued to converse with her, and then after some online courting (if you can call it that) that lasted a few weeks he was asking to meet her in person to go for a date or something.
I guess the parents were not all that trusting of their daughter and went and followed her to her rendezvous, this in turn lead to them calling the police when they met my friend who recently turned 30. Apparently she had lied about her age and was 13, but he would not even had known that without at least meeting her first to be then able to deal with her lie.
Long story short, the cops came he explained to the parents and the cops about how he met her online in some place and asked her her age, and luckily she was not that dishonest to lie to everyone, she admitted to saying she was older then she really was. The cops tries to put some fear into him (wrongly) by telling him about these lists that online predators are kept a close eye with.
I worked as a bouncer in a club where these very young and under aged girls would always offer themselves to be able to earn their weekly pass into the clubs, and trust me, some really did look much older then they were. At some point you have to realize, they are smart enough to play the game, of lying to get what they want, even sleep around if they can at least get in every Friday into the hotspot club of the town, get fake id etc, etc...
It is up to the parents to be more attentive into their kids lives and be more a part of it then one day just wake up and get smacked in the face with reality that their kid is sexually active, or a drug addict, or gay or being bullied at school, or....the list goes on. The parents need to be a little more about the kids and less about themselves.
They had this 10 years ago in linux, 7 red hat version, when you could switch desktop environments in a tabbed setting on the bottom of the tray. Seriously nothing new here, and also a bit insulting to Linux users everywhere that already have had these tabbed environments for all this time, what are...., they chopped liver???
>Women aren't stupid, but there's a shocking lack of interest in actually using any of it I tend to agree to a certain point, but more so I think women lack the interest in establishing and using that intelligence, even if we were to say that women were exactly equal to men in intelligence...across the board... I have to ask you, from radio to tv, to space shuttles, to computers, to encryption, to electricity, to the theory of relativity even to the wheel or to fire...name me any of the woman directly responsible for any invention that is used by man today that has brought them a better quality of life, or even more so, brought more contribution to working less but getting more.
Man would use plows with horses in the fields, then evolved all the way to these monster farm machines that plow fields in minutes. Have any of those instruments been invented by the woman. So they may be intelligent enough to match or IQ per se in some paper contest or competition, but when it comes to using that intelligence to create innovation, they are sorely lacking, which I think is how must people truly determine intelligence today, not just by book smarts in theory, but more so applicable smarts in real time.
Just my 2 cents
"The best way to predict the future, is to invent it"
The army and navy proved this fact already, they use video games as teaching tools, for helping in the development of their soldiers. Too much money would be spent on tactical environments that duplicate the battle field, never mind also the fact their can always be accidents in training exercises, so they prefer to stimulate the nervous system to these types of situations through virtual means.
The next step to this military style tactic, is to include visors and command gloves that are able to actually help the user with the scenario. If he is about to whip out a hand grenade and say throw it improperly, which in a game is always done by the machine representing the gamer...then glove would capture slight hand movements that could falter the throw, hence make the grenade land a little too close and blow everybody up..."sort of thing"
I am glad he was given a chance to drive even though he had no real background or experience, it shows there are a few people out there that are capable of seeing talent through other means then on the job training.
Buy printers that can use generic brand ink cartridges and also make sure when you buy it, that the cost of an ink cartridge is not >= to that of the printer, also don't buy new printers right away, as the makers know this, and will intentionally lower the cost of the cartridges temporarily to make it look good, then raise the price on the cartridges , I usually wait 6 months to a year before upgrading to the next model.
>you actually want to cheer for Microsoft this time as Implicit is nothing more than a patent licensing company (troll) Actually no, seeing as M$ does the exact same thing as they do, and have been know to force shut downs of companies that directly infringed on these patents, instead of giving them a possible pay out scheme.
I say, M$ needs to get what they give, and learn a lesson from it, so I actually root for Implicit to win, but not because I think Implicit is right, but more so, because M$ is dead wrong so many times, they need to feel it.
I tend to agree with you here, trying to imagine being a gov. operative, you use everything you can to catch the bad guy. If we need to know who is a terrorist, and we know all the cell's current operatives have a facebook account and are all linked, they can send messages, images etc. quickly through facebook without detection.
This is like better then regular email, or even hotmail, as any friend can pop up and poke you or leave you a message to let them join as friend, and within that message could be the next attack vector. See, no friends yet totally communicated what I needed to central station.
I may have an active imagination but I do know that operatives (good or bad) are smarter then me, and quicker, so if I can think of this, think what they come up with.
There will always be a worst and best in this category, as in anything you do in life. The problem is when it is deliberately set to that which happens to be.cm (which could be a mistype for many people)...if you think of whether this was intentional on the hackers part, you better believe it.
It could be any of the countries that have domains, and have no real talent for programming websites, but in the end, you have to wonder, most are hosted on regular ISPs that offer the.cm extension, so should they not be partially responsible too, for at least quick testing the sites vulnerability with a tool or something....and if they find anything, the website owners are responsible to fix it, or get their vulnerable or compromised websites taken down.
I don't know enough about this manuscript, but what you are saying makes a lot of sense, there should be a committee assigned to distinguish fact from fiction on such a task. Now if we can only find an unbiased partisan group of people willing to do this for free...
I thought the new security behind windows7 prohibited anything being able to alter the registry settings without having proper confirmation, as well, if this is the case, then they haven't done their homework, because those keys are not just any keys, they actually are integrated with windows directly and should not be able to be changed regardless if you have admin priviliges or not.
It is so their fault, but now the new thing is being able to push blame on malware, as a) no one can defend the malware maker's , not even themselves. b) because most do not know any better, they will dismiss this, and keep on using windows thinking it normal for malware to be able to change registry settings.
I remember a long time ago, I used to use javascript within the browser with useless home pages that did pretty much all my coding formatting for me. I would use a template type schema for building my sql queries, or even try to filter text returns based on entry in the textbox, because it was just quicker to code then opening a full visual studio interface etc...etc..
It definitely has its uses, and is by far a very effective language to do what you want with, with regular expressions as advanced as perl, and object oriented model within the dom that is way further advanced then some other languages....I have to say I am interested in what will develop from this.
Dude, they don't even have to be hot, guys are so dumb, they need to show off, so they add all these girls that remotely look half decent, and then can brag to other guys about all the chicks they have on facebook, trust me I know a few like that....really funny to watch them think highly of themselves just because of the number of girls in their friends list.
No ego has nothing to do with it dude, for me its about the respect. After (i wont go into long drawn out drama) I was told about her father cheating on her and how her mother turned out, and how she was scarred for life after that, I guess I expected a little more is all. Especially if I am constantly under close observation myself... and if I had 5000 friends that were girls with any remote semblance of beauty, it would be the end, so she says.
So i really don't like it as someone in a relationship, but being single, it would be the greatest thing to pick up chicks with!
This right after they announced they were going public. This will definitely boost their stock price. I think facebook has some good merit, however I am an avid anti facebook poster boy when it comes to destroying relationships. If you thought it was easy before to hook up online and cheat on your spouse, well imagine now!!!
Girlfriend: "Hey, i got over 5000 friends online, isn't it wonderful???" Boyfriend: "ummm...why are they all pictures of young good looking dudes wearing no shirts....?" Girlfriend: "well that's because you can put anything on there..." Boyfriend: "how long have you know these so called friends?" Girlfriend: "Well not long, most are people that invited me to be their friend" Boyfriend: "Why is this guy keep writing on your wall how hot you are....I am not sure i really like this..." Girlfriend: "You always make such a big deal about nothing..."
Like the image of Obama's wife as a money on images.google.com, and everyone seeing an image of a money when they type in her name....it was all their fault for creating such a great search engine that someone could post an image of a money to the web and call it what ever name.
Same thing here , the video is clearly google's fault for letting the video happen, I mean they should have had a multi billion software that is in place and is smart enough to watch the video, and know what is happening and be able to deny it from being posted once someone posts it on youtube or whatever. Come on, where has common sense gone.....I guess these *ssholes really know nothing about computers!
I can post images of child pornography on Google images, and it would not be their fault. Especially if the title is like Obama and the monkey....how are they supposed to know to filter that image out as being a bad image
I heard they use a filter on names, tags, and also skin tones as well as size to check for child porn... how can they know that changing the image to a money but naming the image Obama is a no,no.
Seriously, this is not Google's fault, it should be the fault of the person who put it there. Even then, what happened to free speech? If someone painted a mustache over my lips and drew little horns, and posted my image on the web... would they be doing something illegal, but because of who the person is, they should be off limits to criticism or jokes???
>and the experiment used to test it involves manipulating the leg length of some of these ants The would either use pieces of duck tape to hold the dismembered limbs together after having cut them to make different length legs.. or add wood chips to the bottom to increase the length beyond the leg length.

If someone wants to hide, they will hide forever, however you think you want to do it.... and again if I know you are about to embark on such a trek, I know how to track you no matter what. This is such a waste, have I said that before, I forget...
I applaud your retort, and hope that somewhere some lines have been made more apparent to tohers about different cultures, and how someone can speak so freely about another culture without having truly experienced it.
I tend to think someone who has lived there for a few years would be entitled to speak about it, yet this other person had no such claim, therefor I think you were in the right to make his ignorance come to light.
