I'm actually looking for something simular to this for our studio. If anyone has any recommendations to other manufacturors please reply. Anything like this minus the "good looks" would be fine, as well as having the option to connect via usb 2.0 or firewire..
regards,

Nooo.. nothing can stop the ipod. Except the Sony PSP with its wifi capabilities streaming tv shows and radio stations. Really though, if ipods keep getting smaller anyways, whats the screen good for? I cant take anymore of apples step by step ipod releases. I appreciate the enthusiasm in releasing new updates but enough with the baby steps allready. We all know you have an ipod running the itunes store that can fit in your pocket.
A good friend of mine works with the cbc, and trust me, they want to work! Its especially depressing to see here in nothern New Brunswick since on the same street in Bathurst, there are also hotel workers on strike, nurses and healthcare workers on strike, and a mill that just shut down with a days notice, laying off about 500 people just down the road.
This is true, but at least you have the assurance that it will reach the majority, and with a company like Macromedia backing the format, its only going to get better. And with a half decent system you can view.FLVs properly at high resolution (allthough thats cutting up your target market yet again). In the end though, I would rather know that a viewer can actually see it, even at lower quality, than not see anything at all.
Flash is one of if not most widely distributed plugins on the web, and its an auto installer in most cases. FLV videos can be setup to stream through flash movies fairly easily now and are usually decent quality when compressed properly. (they use a codec created by sorenson called sorenson spark). you can even easily setup.FLV playlists and streams using a bit of php and mysql. Mind you , Im a flash junkie and I think flash can solve just about any problem on the web... which it can!
here are some free players too http://www.flvplayer.com/
great encoder at:

and the obvious:

you could always just forget both and find a cheap terapin mine on ebay for about 100$ I've had mine for over a year now, and allthough its the ugliest thing youve ever seen, HUGE, and sucks rechargables in about 5 hours. its still a $100 mp3 player/hard drive with video out for images, a RJ-45 connection to setup a portable server or check your email, and a port for wireless connectivity if you so choose. But Damn its ugly..
If anyone is looking for a great viewer/tiler for high rez images check out Zoomify. I've been using a copy I recieved for free with a bundle from Erain and it rocks, but there is also a free lite version on there site as well.
and it easily integrates into flash.

Here is a fresh After Effects grid rendering tool
just released last month for both mac & pc. Havent tried it yet, as I kindof laugh at comp render times when compared to 3d rendering.

And this is the render manager we use, thats worked like a dream since its first install.
We use it for Lightwave, but there is the option for Maya as well (even though mayas native renderer is 8P)available for PC,MacOSX,Linux
