The body may look like a cross between a Dalek and EVE from WALL-E, but that sensor slit at the top looks totally Cylon to me. I hope it has a single sweeping red eye.
All of your Linux servers could be auto-updating too. Our company had over 2000 Linux servers located all over the country updated in less than 24 hours of the bug being announced after we vetted the updates on our test servers.
FoxFi has long been the defacto standard for non-root tether apps but whether it works varies by phone. But, I honestly haven't used it in ages as I always just root my phones (last 4). It was so easy to root my Moto X Dev that I have never looked back. But, even having the ability, I rarely use it. I just occasionally connect to my phone with my Android tablet, but never with a PC.
BASIC may not be the best programming language, far from it, but it was my first and it gave me the love of programming that lead to where I am today. I got my first TRS Color Computer 2 when I was 10 for Christmas and I will never forget typing in my first example program (and saving it on a tape) and then starting to experiment and figure out what else I could do with this wonder. From there I upgraded to a CoCo 3 and eventually QuickBASIC on a PC. With that I wrote an AI program that got me to an International Science & Engineering Fair. From there I went on to college to major in CS and learn some real languages. I have been programming in Java for some time now and am now moving into Android development. But, it all started with BASIC on my CoCo and I will always remember it fondly.
There is a a web UI? I think gmail works great in Thunderbird via IMAP. It has full sorting and folders, everything you could ever want. The Android app is pretty good on my phone as well (although no sorting). I have never seen a web based email UI that I liked or used unless I absolutely had to.
I don't generally stream or rent any movies. I usually buy one new Blu-Ray every 2 weeks or so. With that I get the physical media I can watch on my home theater system, and just as important to me with most movies I get an UltraViolet code. I then can enter that code and watch that movie on my phone and tablets and laptop as many times as I want with VUDU and I can easily download the full movies to these devices to watch at will. My tablet has a 32GB MicroSD that gives me a nice selection for a trip, and my laptop has a 1 TB drive that can pretty much hold as many downloaded movies as I care to, and I never have to deal with discs on the road. I am just not a renter. I would much rather pay full price to own fewer high quality movies that I can also play anywhere through VUDU than waste my money renting them for temporary use and needing a DVD drive or lots of bandwidth when I am traveling.
I am sure there are plenty of similar Grandma stories out there, but here is one from a Computer Systems Engineer who has been using Windows since 3.11. I still use my XP laptop regularly because it is the only thing that works perfectly for me for remote desktoping in to work. Our company uses a (major brand) firewall that has a few ways of connecting in via a RSA key. The first is an ActiveX based RDP client that works perfectly in Windows XP. This is what I have used for years. Well, I finally decided it was time and went to replace old faithful with a brand new top of the line laptop. I spared no expense. It has 16GB of RAM, Intel i7 processor, large SSD, a full HD touchscreen, and of course Windows 8. It boots in a flash and runs wonderfully (with Start8), until I try to get into work. The ActiveX client simply does not work. So, the alternative is a Java based RDP client. This works, but runs slower than molasses in January. There is also a wonderful new VPN client that should just allow me to run Window's own Remote Desktop client, but what? It also does not work in Windows 8. So, this leaves me with only having the Java client to run which is still just as slow on my new laptop as my old. So, therefore I keep using my old XP laptop for remote desktop. I know I can, and probably will setup a VM running XP on my new laptop, but I am still running XP so that rather defeats the point as well.
I am still addicted to Borderlands 2 as well. I am currently stuck regrinding the Treasure Room in the Pirate's Booty expansion. I never get tired of opening all of those treasure chests and looking for new high end items.
Simple: Firefox - Use New Private Window Chrome - Use New incognito window I also set my browsers to clear all history when I exit even when I don't use the private windows, more as a matter of house keeping than paranoia.
I helped mentor a first time high school team for the smaller FIRST Tech Challenge - FTC Block Party a couple of months ago and even that was a blast. We built a smaller 18" robot for collecting and dumping 2" bricks into baskets and doing a couple of other higher point challenges such as a flag raise and a pull up out of Lego MindStorms and Erector like Tetrix pieces. We did pretty good coming in 3rd out of 11 teams considering it was our first time ever at a robotics competition.
I hope they can eventually step up to the full size FIRST Robotics Competition at some point. We also had a guest team demonstrate their last year's Frisbee throwing robot at the event and it was pretty cool as well.
Personally, I think there are only 2 brands left worth buying. If you run a business and want to buy a large batch of cheaper computers with good support, you go with Dell. If you are a developer or gamer and want to buy a top of the line laptop you go with ASUS. I am both and I am on my 3rd ASUS in 10 years from www.xoticpc.com and I have been perfectly happy with all of them. So, there are still good manufactures and sellers out there.
I actually just had to uninstall McAfee Security Scan Plus which Adobe STILL tries to bundle with the install of PDF Reader and Flash Player from a relative's computer. I also noticed that Adobe also tries to bundle Norton Security Scan with Shockwave player. Interesting and obnoxious that they are trying to get you to install both competing products with the installs of their products.

If you want a good Android phone with a physical keyboard pick up a Motorola Droid 4 if you are on Verizon or a Motorola Photon Q if you are on AT&T or Sprint. These are the best physical keyboard phones that have ever been made, and unfortunately, probably the last the way the market is looking. I still use and love my Droid 4 even though there are many newer and faster touchscreen only phones available these days.
I realize this is just a joke, but how about some working shell code:
while:; do
wget -q -O/dev/null -U Mozilla "http://www.google.com/search?q=term1"
wget -q -O/dev/null -U Mozilla "http://www.google.com/search?q=term2" done
Yup, I use and love VuDu. I currently have 38 movies in my collection on their service. Why, because they are the best online streaming service that supports Android tablets and they also offer the highest resolution streaming in their HDX format for my HTPC and laptop. You can also download local copies for viewing offline on Android tablets. I got much of my collection from redeeming UltraViolet codes from BluRays and also got some as free promotions. WalMart has also partnered with them to put any of your current BluRays or DVDs into your VuDu collection for only $2 a piece, $5 if upgrading a DVD to HDX.
I am not familiar with this particular app, but I would say that this is totally the fault of the developer. The Android/Google Play Store is capable of and designed to have separate optionally downloadable resource content from the main apk. Many games do this by downloading the appropriate resolution of graphics for the device that they are installed on after the main apk has been installed. If the developer is just lumping all of their HD graphics into the same apk they are probably just being lazy or don't know how to split the content out, but this is not Google or Android's problem.
I also consider anytime you see separate regular and HD versions of an app to be a bad thing as this has not been necessary for a long time. Particularly with paid apps, I think it is just an attempt to get you to buy it twice for phone and tablet, and not the result of any technical limitation.
Yes, I have. I just watched my dad pass away earlier this year. After being diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor, I watched him degrade to the point that he finally quit breathing in a span of 3 months and held his hand as he passed. This was the hardest period of my life to date and just as hard watching my mom suffer through it as well as him. Although these changes could be a good start, they would not have been enough for him because he quickly lost the ability to use his arms so no writing, and then he lost control of his tongue so he could barely mumble words to us. But, he still made it fairly clear that he was ready to go. But, after we made the hard decision not to intubate him any more we just had to sit by and wait for him to get so weak that he finally lost the ability to breathe on his own and gasped his last. Anyone who thinks that it would not have been better to help him go quickly should have been there.
Not on a day-to-day basis when I am only traveling from home to office I don't, because I don't need to. But, whenever I fly somewhere I always had 2 spare batteries with for my old Droid 2. I would use an entire battery on the plane and then pop in a fresh one when we land. Now that I have finally upgraded to a Droid 4 I pack a bulkier 5,000mah usb battery pack that I plug my phone into on the plane. I would much rather just pop in a fresh battery like I used to.

I am also old enough, but don't you mean a Gunstar?
Hmm, Du Hast blasting from my stereo activated by a motion sensor might just do the trick, or give me a heart attack some night.

There is no news. There is only the truth of the signal.
You can't stop the signal. Everything goes somewhere, and I go everywhere.

You have an original OG Droid and you are still complaining about it now? The phone is ancient and should have been replaced a long time ago. That being said, it is also completely unlocked and one of the easiest phones to upgrade the OS on. Check out Cyanogen Mod or Project Elite for a whole new experience on the phone and repurpose it as a useful WiFi based media device.
