Maybe it's must me but I would like to see Ubuntu slow down releases, currently they release major releases every few months, very rarely are they stable or free of major bugs. Is that so? I believe they have a damn lot of money, which can be used to buy people with power to get the law changed. How fuck would Linux be if MS got the law changed so that you MUST have permission from all people who make a software product to use their stuff, in writing? I can easily spin that so it looks like it would make sense even if the truth is quite the opposite.

Does Linus go get a million letters or does he have major legal trouble in American courts?

Silly crap? Lets just assume for a minute that we have limited resources on this planet and we're wasting them and making the Earth hotter through it. I mean it's all in our heads but lets just say that maybe the case.

Now if we take 20 million people with 1 monitor, 1 PC and 1 Printer. That is 60 million little lights being wasteful if we assume it's 1 light per device. Wouldn't you think that is quite a power drain should we use them for several days a week at a couple of hours a day?

I wish the guy much luck but I wish he'd do a Thing a week again if only to see how he continues to evolve with easily defined timelines.

Tools will be judged by their most common use. This is a sad truth but a truth none the less.

I live in the country side, I see 4x4s all day every day. Because here people use them for farm work, it makes sense and does the job. But if you look on TV 4x4s are now linked to middle aged women in the middle of a big city. Which is completely the wrong job for them. Web 2.0 3.0 or 4.6 are all going to be the same.

We remember the bad stuff and ignore the good. Because we're more inclined to remember negative than good. :)

These people don't have a single clue about a good website design, they just think "oh that is so awesome I must have it!", so they start swinging wildly at shadows and end up destroying the entire point of the process.

Look at Myspace, these people go "OMG MUSIC ON MY WEBSITE! SO COOL!" but have no damn clue how annoying it is, or how it eats bandwidth and makes their profiles pretty much unusable for Dial up users. But they don't know about this because "ZOMG SO COOL!!!"

See why there is a backlash now? Give an idiot a hammer and tell him to knock down a wall and he'll take down the house. Give an expert a hammer and he'll knock the wall down without causing any damage to the building at all.

Do you play Russian roullete and let 1 class get massacred so the others can escape, or do you all move to 1 location and get shot when he realizes you're all going to parking lot B?

If you've ever played any sort of FPS game you know full well people react in odd ways and you can't predict which way they will come at you from, let alone make a formal plan for such a situation. Putting this into real world setting you're plan revolves on 99% luck and 1% skill.

ah, community may of been the wrong word. People who play a couple of hours a week and don't much care or have any real passion, to me aren't gamers. Where as someone who has a passion for games will follow sites and such and be part of the community in that sense.

I worded it wrongly, but it is a passion thing which leads you to do more than just play the odd game and hence be involved in a larger thing (aka a community).

"I said no to my kids playing games and now they're all well adjusted perfectly fine kids, this clearly shows that no games was what made my kids will adjusted" and then she says "It's a delight to see my kids sitting down and talking, the subject doesn't even matter". So if they all sat down and discussed Half life's plot is that some how being well adjusted and delightful, or is it suddenly evil as the topic is games?

Secondly, she points out how fantastic radio dramas are, yet the reasons she says they are good is the exact thing a good game of Nethack will give you. That little rat known as a Q is infact trying to rip your throat out, so maybe your character dodges, left, then right and finally thrusts his sword into the foul beast. Yet because the medium is different it is "clearly" some evil twisted non-imagination based thing.

Seems to me like this is just some mother going "oh my kids are great, I raised them so well!" when she has zero evidence of what happens if she had let them all watch porn all day and play games to their fill because there is only 1 chance to do it and you will never know the alternative's results.
