Homes which supply solar power to the grid are charged much more for power from the grid than homes which do not supply power to the grid, to the point that they make a net loss on their solar power system.
Any solar power I install at my place is used locally. I don't feed it to the grid. Its too much trouble.
I was thinking more about keeping a whole human brain alive and hooking it up to new inputs and outputs. Should be cheaper in energy terms than replacing the body one organ at a time.
Well these are the people who's law is capable of declaring the landholdings of indigenous people to simply not exist. They didn't just ignore the issue or let their hit men clear the place out. They actually had a law to say that the place was empty when it clearly was not.
So clearly it can be hacked to say what they want it to say.
In a couple of billion years, maybe. But even now we could probably make our own magnetic field. And for that matter we could directly manufacture a new atmosphere if loss into space became a problem.
If there were a picture of you under a word closely resembling "Dildo" you'd be upset, too.
Not as much as if my name closely resembled it. Her full name is "Dido Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong". It doesn't even fit in the subject line for this post, and it's not a stage name. Her parents should be shot.
That would certainly be the most decisive event in their lives to date.
except that he's so tiny in the photo, it's not like anyone's going to recognize him.
By suing, everyone will know it's him, regardless of how tiny he is in the picture, thus giving him grounds to sue. So if he doesn't sue, he has no grounds to sue, therefore he must sue!
I am familiar with the picture but I didn't know it was McCandless. Given that he actually got paid to do something which I will never be able to pay to be able to do, I don't have a lot of sympathy for him.
Exactly the same here. My wife manages the family facebook account and I don't have to look at my sister's latest 500 pic upload. I swear, she is getting kickbacks from RAID array manufacturers.
Actually I know a guy who had a crash when his insurance payment was overdue. He called the insurer immediately and paid up. They may have known he wasn't covered at the time of the crash, but its better in the long run to keep a customer. Arguments which say "nobody would pay if the $75 had been accepted on the spot" don't apply if most people would pay anyway, and this guy is an exception.
As for his pets, those were his fault. They were his responsibility and he failed them.
If this guy was setting fire to animals in his house he could be reported to the police for animal cruelty. So why is it okay for anybody to let the pets burn to death?
I can't wait to find out what happens when she dies. Presumably there have to be parallel and identical laws of succession in countries where she is queen so that the same successor can be selected. My favorite would be to simply change the Australian Law of Succession so that (for example) the captain the national cricket team gets to be king. Lulz all around.
I have a copy of the Australian constitution. It is full of paragraphs which read like The Queen may decide to create a house of representatives, and may decide to take advice from such a body... and so on. Nowhere does it say what the Queen must do. Thats how it will be until we vote for a republic and write A proper constitution.
Might be worth pointing out that the UK (like Australia) is a monarchy with no fundamental rights beyond the one saying that the (king|queen) can do whatever the hell they like and everybody else can get (stuffed|killed|locked up|etc).

Say I have a terminal illness. It some of my brain cells can be kept alive, and given a robot body to motor around in, maybe its worth a go.
Mainly the neuron control helps the robot to avoid walls.
So there must be messaging back into the rat. So the robot is to some extent controlling the rat brain.

Only one step to go before we finish the job...
Oh christ I wish we'd hurry up. Its bloody embarrassing what with our official religion and all the sucking up to ER which goes on.

Don't worry. Aussies and Kiwis (and Malaysians, Singaporeans, any remaining Fijians, etc) will mod you right back up.
I hope the power companies don't retaliate
...since a pressure suit is his preferred means of travel. Definitely a cheap way to go.

Better just to screw the cleats directly to the bone, don't you think?

It's only 2 pounds a month so I tried it out.
Aren't they paying you to watch?

A ruling by by a US District Court judge in San Jose, California has now been upheld by the Quebec Superior Court (the defendant lives in Montreal)."
How does that work between countries, especially since both courts seem to be creations of their respective state governments.

But as we both know there is no constitution to amend. What the Queen says, goes.

surely being forgetful is not illegal.
My guess is that this guy tried that argument.
