The price is determined by what they can get for it, which is determined in part by the price of the Lenovo. If they don't sell enough the price will come down.
None of these things were invented by Star Trek. Maybe they were, as you say "shown there" but these ideas have been common in SF since at least the 1940s and quite likely a lot longer.
When the library at the local community college had a wooden tables in the study area, there was a rich history of graffiti from 20 years of students studying for exams. When they build a new library with modern non-wood tables, the graffiti no longer existed. The florescent pen graffiti on the condom machines in the restrooms was a poor substitute.
So lets all agree here to vote under the line (by candidate) in the senate and to put Conroy last, lower even than the "Guns for everybody" idiots, the "no slanty eyed people in Oz" twits and the "men who don't believe in child support" morons.
Okay everytime this kind of article comes up on slashdot people point to five or six other languages I have never heard of. Now smalltalk is an old language and I have heard of it and you make some good points about what it can do. So why do we have so many unique languages? Is it because people want to start from a clean slate? Surely working on virtual machines and calling standards is just as important.
If the phone is locked can you use it in a different country without restrictions? Can you buy a SIM in a different country and use that SIM while you are away? If not, there are good reasons to buy an unlocked phone.
Live streaming using H.264 seemed to work just dandy watching the State of the Union address on my iPhone while using the Whitehouse.gov iPhone app. Also seems to work great with MLB At-Bat on the iPhone as well. I watched many baseball games last season streaming live H.264 video to the iPhone.
But can you do it with a generic app which will connect to any server?
Take buffer overflows for example. You can build a generic tool to create buffer overflows by feeding in long messages but there is no generic way to exploit the overflow, because every system arranges its data differently.

I coded in java on the tram for a couple of months. Then I got into writing openmoko applications in C with the Enlightenment toolkit. I work with a terminal and nedit. On a bigger screen I can keep them both visibible with overlap. On the 701 I keep both maximised and tab between them. Its not ideal but it is worth the small form factor.
Yeah at the moment I take the tram to work. Its 40 minutes each way. I get a lot of coding done on my eeepc. It is hard to find room for a bigger laptop on public transport.
I run ubuntu on my eeepc 701. It works fine. I have considered uninstalling open office and installing more lightweight office tools. I will do that if I run out of space (again).
For me it is an unusually interesting slashvertisement so I think it belongs on the front page.
Hack it and install a DC power socket. Its only a cheap device after all. How about installing a three pin regulator while you are at it?

Different architecture maybe? A little bit like how RISC could clock faster than CISC back in the day.

How about an implant which selectively traps virus particles, incinerates them and releases their component molecules?
Yeah I find /s/ to be a pretty good source of porn. The s/n ratio is low but not the worst. I have never seen unambiguous CP there.
Hmmm, I can hit it from my DROID...
This not the DROID you are looking for.
Don't cross the memes. This is /b/ we are talking about.

Did any of it say "insert baby for refund"?
I remember being in a train in melbourne
Have you been around long enough to remember MAX+GJE? Any ideas on where it came from?
If anybody is the religious nut job in this Government its the Prime Minister, with the independent senators (Family First, etc) running second.

but I know it my heart it should be "Colbert."
I would vote for "Buzz" but I guess people would feel strange saying "Lets meet in Buzz", etc.

Agreed that Flash needs to be replaced, but not with HTML 5.
What about all the browser applications written in flash? Will we just not have them?

Just drop in an SD card and be done with it.
Yes, same here. But I don't put unix type directories on it. Just my user files and a JDK. 4G is enough for ubuntu.
I think that experience shows there will be a lot of false positives.
