They aren't prohibiting "Free Software", they are prohibiting software that is under a license that requires the distributor to pass certain rights along to the recipient. Hence GPL like licenses that require distribution of source code, and that you grant redistribution rights to everyone you distribute it to are being explicitly prohibited. (And in fairness I can see why those licenses would cause problems for Microsoft as distributors) On the other hand BSD like licenses that allow you to repackage and distribute without source and without passing rights forward are acceptable.

  13. Re:Wishes on MS, Mozilla Clashing Over JavaScript Update · · Score: 1

Tabular data is not layout, trying to arrange an excel style spreadsheets in anything but tables it silly. You don't set the width or height of the outer layer but give it some padding to set your inner layer inside it visually unless of course you have to float the outer element in which case you at least need a width. Your div layout for each element should not have to worry about its parent element and should look and act properly on its own which in itself is the beauty of doing the div css style layouts.

If you do need any help or have a question how something might be done with minimal to no browser hacks just let me know and I will lend you a hand!

  14. Re:Wishes on MS, Mozilla Clashing Over JavaScript Update · · Score: 1

Ditch tables for layout, there is no layout that exists that can be created in tables that cannot be created in divs and css. If your using tables for layout and you won't accept divs then you will be left behind. We have not accepted a single applicant that couldn't show knowledge of div layouts without inline styles or absolute positioning and our sites look perfect on PC/Mac on all major browsers.

Learn to use divs and css, you won't look back with nostalgia and you will be a better front-end developer for it.
