Didn't OS 7 and 8 run on both architectures? I remember using 7 on a PPC machine and seeing screenshots of OS 8 running in Basilisk II, the Mac M68k emulator.
What about the recent rash of tens of thousands of PHP based forums going down? Oh, that's PHPBB's fault, not Apaches.
As far as I know, (and I'm no expert) the PHP exploits are mainly caused by SQL and mod_php vulnerabilities, not necessarily the core server. Of course, if security is an issue, you may have to sacrifice a little performance by choosing an MPM such as Prefork instead of Worker to avoid unchecked buffer exploits taking advantage of the whole server, not just an individual thread.
I'll be the first to tell you that being forced to register with a business partner of a business partner of a business partner of a business parter in order to download trial softgware and ending up on a mailing list is not opting in.
When I think of 70s movies, I think of cop movies. You know, the ones with the soundtrack that was a little bit too locked into the trends at the time (trumpets and wakachika wa) and the car chases that were always on a cliffside road - and one guy, usually the bad guy, gets knocked off the cliff and his car explodes a couple feet before impact. Those movies seemed to be the start of cop movies where the captain goes, "You're a loose cannon, buddy! You always destroy everything when all this was was a simple bust! You're on vacation, you understand?"
"Forget it, pal! I quit!"
Needless to say, I don't think that much from the 70s was creative. It was probably better than it became later on, though.
Again, this had better not suck as much as the vehicle sections in HL2 did; as far as I could tell they were designed soleley to make the game take longer to finish...
Oh, yeah? Try missing the swamp boat and see how long it takes you to progress! (It happened to me - what a dumbass)
On a similar note, the swamp boat and buggy portions of the game were my favorite parts. Conversely, I found the Ravenholm and the Nova Prospekt (indoors) parts kind of a drag to get through, although still an important piece of the game.
I'm curious if there were any countries that had a similar reaction to past near-false advertising campaigns, such as the "The Pentium II makes the internet faster!" ad several years back.
Yeah, you're right. I forgot about words like "y" and "ya". I'm still not sure "K" appears in native words though. The example santana gave appeared to be for the metric prefix "kilo" (which stems from Latin, I assume?)
I did a bunch of BASIC on Apple//c when I was in in summer break after 5th grade. Mostly graphical menus that played two-channel music in the background (utilizing some "bload" hack from another program).
Needless to say, BASIC has ruined any chance of me learning how to program. I just plain do not understand any current programming languages.
Ahh, what fun.
286/13MHz + Wing Commander = Too slow (and no control stick sprite drawn)
386DX/40MHz + Wing Commander = Way too fast (but control stick was drawn)

...Some of mah buses!
Besides, it's kinda hard to see the TV with that turtleneck obscuring your vision.

That's because it is safe to assume that any new version of commercial software will be slower, clunkier, and buggier than the previous version.
When you hear that a new version "has been completely rewritten", that's usually a very bad sign.
Um, no. Still screwed up. Here:

Heh, reminds me of a commercial for a TV I saw here in Japan...."Zexy!" I'm guessing it was either for Zenith or Sony.
Or the Daihatsu ads: "Voxy!"
"Wonderful Small!"
The crushed-body of an evidently indigenous species was found sprawled in the impact zone of the heat shield....
The Wicked Witch of the West was unavailible for comment.
