they have regular passports but also a national ID that serves as a double of their passport which they can show when they enter the country. It would be useful for the States to have a standard for IDs so that layout and holograms are easy for security to deal with. Passports should be updated for the 21st century as should IDs, but the federal government should only be involved in setting the standard with plenty of research done by several independent research firms, States should retain control of most data
Im running 10.3.9 and downloaded QT7 and have been enjoying the HD videos. Ive had very few frame rate problems, it might help to set my processor to highest setting. The QT window has been changed slightly and the menu has been cleaned up more, but Apple really wants people to buy Pro and they leave the pro features greyed out in the menus so you can see what your missing out on. Ill buy Pro after I update to Tiger when I get back home from school.
im concerned about privacy as well, but anyone with the right access and technology can track you by your cell phone and listen in, your online movements, bank records, medical records are available to certain agencies. If cars start being tracked by computers as they are for example in [iRobot] and traffic is helped I guess I can live with that, it will deter certain types of crime as well, the end of drive bys, hit and runs, bank robbery escapes. The only real privacy we have anymore is our mind.
"they both imply that Microsoft will provide" does that statement also imply that MS will set a standard that doesnt suck or come up pathetically short?
Instead of attacking the iPod and Apple they should be going after the people who havent used iTunes. Apple has street credit, Napster has lost what it had long ago. Satellite radio alone should sink their subscription service. I would rather have a portable satellite player as the face unit can be plugged into the car, boombox, or home station, or carried around.
it is so true. Windows just sucks. Its not good for productivity at all. The code is a pure mess. If they want to be a worthwhile platform they might as well just rewrite the entire OS from the ground up.
My last windows machine died on me before SP2 but Ive had experience with it on family and friends machines. Ive never had much use for search bars and I think they invade on privacy secretly. Course that may just be me and my conspiracy theory clogged mind. Seems like they are too hard to get rid of once you do install them. I dont like software that is hard to get rid of. I dont want pieces of an application scattered all over my HD. I also dont want to bolt anything onto my operating system, thats why Apples Tiger is so attractive, spotlight is easy for developers to combine into their applications and easy for the user to manipulate, and its built right into the operating system as a real dependable feature, like Apples spell check.
Honestly how many people have that many files that they need an instant results search of files? I have lots of files but I typically know where they are. The only time I have trouble is when Im trying to find a picture in my iPhoto folder. Hopefully the naming is a feature that Apple will remedy with the next release of iLife.
Even if the MPAA developed a program, who would install it? Universities? How easy would it be for the program to scan harddrives of computers connected to the network? If a person has a good firewall I doubt the program could access a computer. Also it would probably be aimed an windows users only as windows security is typically swiss cheese and most windows users have no idea how to secure their computers.
Remember recently that the US airforce had made plans to arm space? If we can launch a series of defense satellites with these lasers, terrorist leaders could be hit from space, they would never come out of their holes. Also the net of satellites could be used as a shield against any asteroids headed for earth. What is worrisome is the potential for the rest of the world feeling as if being held hostage by the US. Its pretty much the same thing as that last Bond movie.
Nuclear waste is a by product of older reactors. The new reactors like the one in South Africa are based on pebble beds instead of rods. This is a much safer form of nuclear energy and not prone to meltdowns. The hurdle is to either construct new power plants or upgrade grandfathered plants. Nuclear power would answer a lot of our needs, but what would be nice is if the federal government would allow tax breaks for people who install solar panels on their roofs or on their property. Newer panels can provide nearly all power to run a house and sometimes can provide excess energy back to the public grid.

If we really want to halt or slow down global warming, the industrialized countries are going to have to shell out the cash to rapidly change out the third worlds power supply as that is where most unchecked pollution is. China is trying to deal with its energy needs with coal and water power. In Iraq the Tigris and Euphrates are basically open sewers, Saddam did not care about the environment at all and what plants that were in the country let the waste into the rivers drifting downstream to the sea into the Ocean. The Iraqi government and the US and NATO need to act and help the Iraqis clean up the rivers and the air.
While this is a strange development and I cannot predict what will happen, Apple still has the ability to use veiled threats and coercion. Apple has made it extremely easy for any band/group to record their own music, it would be simple for Apple to work directly with bands and handle publicity, this could ultimately cut the labels out completely. With the digital market moving the way it is actual distribution of cds is going to falter. Apple could probably very easily distribute songs in multiple formats. 128kbps and Apple Loss-less for people who want the extra "ummmfff." I personally like AAC very much, and see the need for cd quality digital tracks as well. Apple should fight this tooth and nail. Or the labels should recognize a format built by people who understand sound (dolby labs) over WMA which is utter shite
Im wondering what this will do to my heart. Caffeine and alcohol can really make you feel bad. I cant have more than 3 vodka and redbulls without feeling really bad. My body is confused enough with all i feed it.
This is almost like having an elderly parent looking over our shoulder as we work at our job in middle age. Im not saying that there shouldnt be someone checking the voting process in the USA this year, but why europe? They dont exactly have a good record letting other nations deal with their own self determination either.
I for one would never buy office as a web app. This can only set the stage for open office or Mac office to gain ground, but they really need to polish OpenOffice interface.

I believe I read a few articles detailing the development of a 747 based green laser that could be used to knock out missiles and asteroids

Maybe its a test fire of a satellite defense network. A low power test to see the accuracy of the weapon.

It would be nice if the movie was available in quicktime format. That poor server is trying hard isnt it.

Im tired of Kim Jong Ils saber rattling. Hes a smug unhappy little man who needs a dose of cyanide in his rat broth.
One of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Nothing is sacred and its beautiful. My head actually started hurting I was laughing so hard.
