1. The item actually becomes more valuable to you. (This incorporates all supply and demand metrics.)
What if the item has become less valuable for the bidder? If he bids $500 on an item and then discovers that it wasn't exactly what he was looking for, he's pretty much screwed. If sellers can change their mind so should buyers.
I always use google for searching, but often I add wikipedia to my search query to get the wikipedia article. I find it faster than using the wikipedia search.
Uh, no. On the occasional day I get a sustained attempt to guess a username/password combo, and such an attempt may well get up to 1,000 attempts
I usually don't check my ssh logs, but a while ago I peeked at it and noticed an ongoing attempt from a single ip. Instead of ignoring it, I blocked the ip. Then I checked where the ip was located, and saw that it was on an.edu-net. I contacted the sysadmin there and told him that this machine probably was compromised. It turned out that it was, and the sysadmin thanked me for telling him. I've had similar attacks later, but since those came from hijacked machines on a DSL in Korea I never bothered to tell anyone, I just blocked the ip.
The ratios probably depends on the content. I have a site with home-made (work-made?) weaponry made from office supplies (shameless plug). The stats for the last years (counting page requests only) are:
Switching to Intel will make it easier for game developers to port their code, which will lead to more games available for the Mac.
No. Most, if not all, games today are coded in C/C++ (with maybe a tiny bit of assembler). The problem with porting games to the Mac is not the CPU instruction set but the available APIs. There is no DirectX on Mac. In addition many games are using 3rd party libraries so these have to be available for Mac too.
You'll see a headline-made-for-Google which reads, "Britney Spears on Will and Grace" but when you click it, the headline-for-humans reads, "3 lesbian midgets have a pee party!"
Think about how a 3D view from the cameras that move over the field in Football would look. That is one experience you can't get from watching the game live.
That "demo" is obviously rigged. The colors are not the same. I'm not sure if there are any differences in the video format other than resolution, but I'm pretty sure regular DVD can display yellow.
I'm using ACR and Bridge almost every day. It works quite fine for me, but of course I'm as thrilled as anyone else about Aperture. I'm really looking forward to try it. Except for the graphics card, my machine exceeds the recommended specs too!:)
Adobe Camera Raw, which is included in Photoshop, can do non-destructive RAW processing (crop, white balance, brightness, exposure, saturation etc), use the same settings for multiple raw files etc. Combined with Adobe Bridge it is quite powerful.
Well, the best thing is probably to upload any stuff people send to you by mistake to Wikileaks. Then there is no need to close your email-account.
They didn't think their cunning plan to create more ad revenue by creating a shitload of pages all the way through...
Well, getting a 17" x 25" print for about $10 (ink and paper cost included) in about 15 minutes is a good reason to print photos at home.
Given Sony's track record, less bang for the buck is most likely intentional :)
ClearType is not just anti-aliasing.
I'm surprised Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing didn't make it to the list... :)

One way is whether Nintendo makes any money or not on the Wii (within a reasonable timeframe).
I'm in for $100. If it flops, you win. If it is a success, I win.
He probably means the smaller ps1 and the slim ps2.

I actually use screen + launchmany-curses.py. Drop the torrent files in one directory and pick up the downloads in a second directory after a while.

...or jacked off.
Re-read SlightlyOldGuy's post. Nick Park is one of the guys behind Wallace and Gromit, not SlightlyOldGuy's wife.
The game works fine on Radeon Mobility 9600...
Whackers
