I think this is a good idea. Just like laws in real life, these rules in the game that you can't do certain things and will be punished if you do don't prevent everyone from doing it, and sometimes such rules cause more problems than they solve. So rather than create a kind of a black market on ebay by forbidding the real life trade, make a sanctioned site on which it can be done totally officially. That way SOE will have much more control over the situation. For example, they could limit the number of items sold or bought per player per month or something.

Thank god it is finally dying. Cutting down trees, trucking them across the country to a factory that makes paper out of them, trucking the paper to the next factory where they put ink all over the paper so the round piece of plastic (another huge process involved here) inside the case with the digital data on it will have a nice cover to go with is, then these pieces of plastic are transported all over the world into stores, where people have to drive their cars to the store to buy them, then take them home and make mp3s out of them. And most likely the artist already has the music in digital format on his computer and could actually sell it equally well from right there. We have the technology. Guess which one I prefer.

Yes. But what they are doing is ridiculous. I need a PC for my work. Having to pay for it monthly because I might use it to watch their TV channel is pretty much criminal in itself. I think people shouldn't stand for that kind of thing. Anyway, I might be overreacting, but it is kind of frustrating to have the country I live in cast into such a light. Basically they decided to do it even though everyone was against it. Not very democratic, not fair, not good.

The GEZ is an organization that makes sure that people pay these taxes if they own some receiver of some sort that they define specifically. First, they send you letters asking you to tell them what you own, and sometimes they will come to your door and ask to look at what you have in your home (although you are not legally obliged to let them in).

The tax is for TV and radio channels operated by the state, and is supposed to be paid by those that are capable of receiving them. Even so far this has been quite unfair, since for instance every car radio has a receiver, and even if you never ever listen to the radio in the car and you just bought it for the cd player, you have to pay the tax.

You are saying the system would have flaws. Well obviously it would, EVERY system so far has its flaws, this one would be no exception. The comparison to the superbowl teams is just plain wrong, since one team OPPOSES the other. It would be an accurate comparison if voters from other countries were trying to actively hurt the country in order to beat them, which is certainly not the case.

I do however think it would be unfair to have foreigners have a say on things that don't have influence on them. In my opinion there should be a compromise: The president should rule the USA and the USA only, whereas another (potentially the same) person should be in charge of the worldwide issues, and THAT person should be decided by someone worldwide. I would like to see this kind of system implemented in every country. In my view that would be the only truly democratic way to do it.

Supporting OpenGL 2.0 is the job of the drivers, which didn't support it so far simply because the specification didn't exist. The cards have all the capabilities necessary to support OpenGL 2.0, which makes sense if you understand the development process of OpenGL: The card makers come up with some new feature, and they can immediately implement it in the form of an extension and release it with their driver. After some time, the new features become generally supported, so the ARB looks over the extensions and makes an ARB extension out of it that the card makers have to implement again. This means that the new features of OpenGL 2.0 are actually just the features that the cards already have put together into one API.
