The trouble I see is the following: Some unknown game developer brings out a game that is just simply very good. People are surprised, since they didn't know about it and suddenly they are having a lot of fun with it. The game is a success. So the now famous company makes the next game, and everyone is eagerly awaiting it, hoping that it will be even better than the first. Then when it comes out, it may have better graphics and stuff, but the amount of fun with the game really won't increase that much, if at all. It will be hard to top since apparently the first game was a lot of fun already. People just expect too much (partly due to the hype). And the longer it takes for the game to come, the more they expect. That's why we are seeing more and more such articles saying that things used to be better or something. Just my two cents.
What do you mean "poor" space marine? Everyone is already training for that day using professional simulation software. We'll have no trouble finding a volunteer.
I find that interesting. Who modded that down????
Anyway, that explanation might also explain the mixed results that others had trying to reproduce the experiment, since sometimes the interference would add and sometimes it would subtract.
Well, you can understand that they don't want people making screenshots of the professional quality smooth-shaded previews to make movies and then not paying them, right?
To me it is much easier to stick in the USB stick and copy stuff than it is to turn off the computer, open it, attach the floppy drive, boot the computer, find a disk (that works), copy part 1 of a multipart archive, turn off my computer, detach the floppy, turn off the other computer, attach...........
According to the article it was the wind, which may have had an increased impact on the car since it's center of mass is higher, which actually sounds like a possible explanation to me. If there was enough wind to tip the car even slightly, the consequences may be pretty bad.
I used to think java was slow, but used it anyway. One day a java application (a game console emulator we wrote) was running too slow, so we ported it to c++ and optimized it. The result was maybe about 30% performance gain. I think for something that java is definetely not meant for (a virtual machine on a virtual machine) that is pretty impressive. And the main reason I think that the java version is slower is that java doesn't have unsigned variables so we had to use larger variables and & them with 0xFF in every single operation.
Retailers in the States will be allowed to pick up games starting at 12:01 AM on August 3rd. The official street date is actually August 5th in the U.S.A., but some of your favorite stores will probably have it early for those of you who have to have it first.
On my Windows XP with internet explorer it only creates a maximized window over, no full screen. Alt-Tab and the close button etc are still there, and you can move the window. I don't see the problem.
Eclipse is perhaps one of the greates things to happen lately. But I think it's full potential has not nearly been realized yet. Since it supports everything via plugins, one could make html editors, office applications, or even stuff like photo editing software under eclipse which would then feature a unified and interoperable user interface. I really hope to see this kind of thing soon.
Then this sounds like a simple problem to fix to me: The phone companies would simply have to check that the phone number reported for caller id matches one that they have registered for the person who is billed. If not, they can give an error message or something. Or did I misunderstand something?

This reduces to just:

I had to look it up. OSPF
True. When I saw my post it looked wrong. I'll try to remember the preview button from now on.
I won't be impressed until all of Göthes Faust is done in ActionScript.

Will they release a version with the 30'' Apple Cinema display? That would be cool for riding the subway.
While I agree with you, a viable alternative to oil may save lives. A lot of lives. Then again that is a future that is hard to predict.
I think it was in the other link (the "More information on the accident is available here" link), that seems to have been slashdotted...

This year still nvidia (obviously) will debut their nforce4 chipset which will have the capability for SLI. More info here

"It's a bug in the program. A buffer overflow."
