    Removing existing products from the market doesn't have any impact on the promotion of arts and sciences; designing around the existing patents is what causes that.

    This is where the angst comes from. You are entirely right, but the whole "engineer" mindset hates that kind of limitation. "There's no reason I can't do that" is thought of because there is no... hrm.... tangible reason? This is the same phenomena that explains how vehemently some attack the "lockdowns" that folks like Apple and Sony place on their hardware. Does that help explain why you see this viewpoint so often in this arena?

    Indeed. For example, not many people realize that acetaminophen/paracetamol (Tylenol) can utterly destroy your liver... and it's not even difficult to reach the dosage to do that. Look here for some likely numbers.

    I know I was close to the line when I was having some trouble with my teeth. I was keeping a running tally per 24-hour period. How many people do you think would do that?

    Correct. The cultivars you are going to find at a home-and-garden are not going to be that efficient (intentionally or not).

    I used to work with an idiot who was all into that. Pretty lame to hear him talking about it all the time. I'm surprised he didn't get busted.

    I'm curious. What specifically is lacking in OpenJDK that causes your project to be incompatible? Finding out from someone who's been-there-done-that is much preferable to hitting that specific brick wall yourself.

    I had thought it was only a few things that were different - sound (fixed), serial IO (fixed... I thought) for example.

    I love it when people romanize words from other scripts and totally ignore pronunciation. Why would you write "Navajo" when it sounds like "Nayiyee"? We have constructs that form that sound, so WTF would you choose something totally inappropriate?

    If you can control the area, you can pick out targets. If you smash the area and scatter everyone, your job just became much more difficult.

    What do you think the water is for? The reason sugar doesn't work in gas is because it doesn't dissolve, it stays solid and settles (and even if it didn't, the filter would catch it).

    Not sure what would actually happen to the dissolved sugars though, given the high water concentration would probably prevent the thing from firing.
