This is just RIM wanting to quell some fears about being shut down. Execs wild eyed clutching their blackberries worring if they will be cut off is not what RIM wants.
That is all well and good for corperate environments that need network access to programs from a server but seriously. This speed is 40 times faster then the connection I have at home for my internet. Unless you are doing things over your home network (Streaming video I suppose) there is no reason to upgrade.
The trouble is that theses companies will be pushing "N" routers like crazy when noone needs it. Unless it offers super Encryption of 802.11i then count me out.
Where is the lovable EFF on this. This seems like something that they would want to happen.
BTW? How do we start lobbing OUR people in congress to get this blocked. If this goes through (from what I understand) it could have the potential to destroy the internet. I like it the way it is now. Charging me extra for "extra services" that are standard on a regular connection.
COME ON PEOPLE! If you dont like this idea we need to get together to stop this. Get the EFF on this. Do something.
KSU is highly unfriendly to FS and p2p. One of the main network programers has made a software that examines every packet that goes in and out of the campus and has it delete any packet that resembles that of a filesharing clinet. Nothing works. Not even bittorrent (new linux distro? I dont think so). A friend of mine says it is custom and is not out in the wild but it works like this:
Internet(1)/(2) ---> Packet Detector Server --> Routers ---> Campus
the routers may come first but from the sound of things. At least you actualy can share. Kansas Satae University. Forget it. Even new ones will be picked up on fast. Consider yourselves lucky and head back to Gnutella, G2, or another small time network.
Last night the Congratulation page came up after I loaded my browser again with the new Beta 2. Automatic updates should have happened or are happening now. Just do a check for new extensions and it should trigger.
Just how much of the spectrum is left for the FCC to pass out. And who dictates the spectrum elsewhere? Not to sound all Anti-American but the fcc is not all powerful.
There at one time was rumblings in the Wine world about a company that claimed to have created a Office 2000 Crossover component and was later accused (project David was proved to have copied Crossover)
Now did CherryOS do the same with the PearPC. Take the free sourcecode and work like mad and then make a large claim to get people buying it. Make you suspicious.
I have long since wanted to have Apple come out with a window manager for linux. Similar to KDE and Gnome and compatible the machine would look like (but probably not feel like) a mac. The windows manager would not be based on X11 bur whatever mac uses (Quartz I believe).
Also the question is if they can. When Micro$oft bought a load a stock to keep them affloat i wonder if the agreement would be not to port to Windows platform.
If they did then by all means. I believe Mac OS X is a better written os then Windows. Apple is already halfway there with darwin on x86 all they need now is the other libraries and the GUI. I shure hope that one day will. Mabye Mac OS 11 will be.
Hmm. A Dogpile search didn't give me much. Child Imunization in texas? Doesn't sound like computers to me. I will take it seriously when there are linux kernel and networking packages in GPL and there is a 1000+ page PDF outlining the entire protocol. Untill then, China can keep it.
Why doesnt RIM stop fighting NTP and just buy them? Wouldnt that make their life easier?

Microsoft sued by University of Texas for blitzing the "Longhorn" name?
For goodness sake it is a CODENAME! People just reference things by the codename because it is easier.
And how exactly did "tiger direct" get "Tiger" trademarked?
Wait, on second thought, don't we all know the answer?

Wait, are they?
