    Read-Eval-Print Loop. It's a Lisp term, it basically means when you run python or ruby in a console you get this screen where you can try out commands and such. It really helps.

    Actually, considering it's from 1997, X-Wing vs Tie Fighter can probably be run pretty well from WINE, although depending on your X configuration you might need to set WINE to run in a window. I've had good experience with Red Alert on Wine, which I have to use because even though I have a dualboot the first two Command and Conquer games won't play in 2000.

    huh, ports isn't a BSD thing there's plenty of linux distro's that use ports. No, ports is a BSD thing. You're thinking of Portage, which is used by the Linux distro Gentoo and is based off of ports.

    Some people use "open source" to mean "free software". Bruce Perens is one of them. Then there are people who use "open source" to mean some mutant offspring of "free software". That's what Eric Raymond, Russ Nelson, and most of the other nutty libertarians mean by it.

    More proof that rich guys almost never go to jail. Fixed. Seriously, it no longer matters what color your skin is. All that matters to Bush is that you went to an Ivy League school with no financial aid and you took courses that you made it through by being rich.

    Agreed(Seriously, most of the civil rights stuff attributed to JFK was really either his brother or his veep, whom I kinda have to feel sorry for). Bush, however, has more of one attribute than any other president. He is the most mockable president that could be imagined. How the fuck do you make so many verbal errors?

    Usually it's said that the order is soap ballot jury ammo. That being said, the NRA is pretty much the greatest anti-freedom stunt that has ever been attempted. They've managed to convince their members that guns == freedom, so as long as they have their guns they won't fight for freedom, and when they lose their guns...they will want to fight for freedom but they only knew how to use guns.

    If Microsoft wanted to spy on you they could easily get an IP that isn't Microsoft. Besides, do you really trust your host file on a Microsoft system? They're known for bypassing it specifically for that kind of stuff.

    Notice which modern languages are the ones that are taking off. Python and Ruby, primarily. Both use the REPL technique which allows software to be developed much quicker.
