    I always love to see the congitive dissonance here when people bash TiVo for wanting to keep their platform closed, but defend Apple to the death when they do the same thing. (No doubt the mental gymnastics and word smithing used to defend this is...entertaining.) You're making a bad assumption. The assumption you are making is that all Slashdotters are one person. Slashdot is large. Unlike Walt Whitman, Slashdot actually contains multitudes. You are also one of Slashdot's many members, expressing one opinion out of many. You think you're fighting some kind of huge crusade against Slashdot when in reality you are part of the very system you attack. You're pretty much the Slashdot equivalent of somebody who thinks that Hot Topic is rebellious.

    yes many people suffered under stalin regime! do you think current russia is the same? No, but although Gorbachev and Yeltsin increased the amount of freedom Russians had, Putin is decreasing the amount of freedom Russians have. This is what you get when you put a KGB agent in control.

The only groupthink is among the people who try to characterize Slashdot as one person. (The Founding Fathers disagreed too, although the Revolutionary Libertarians who worship them as gods kinda ignore that)

    I was trying not to mention the current administration. Though I have to say that Gore might have been a better than recent average choice. Though his quote on his influence WRT the internet was poorly worded, he is definitely one of the few politicians who truly understands technology. If I were president Gore would be on my cabinet.

    Everything I need to know I learned by killing smart people and eating their brains. Sylar, is that you? (And yes, I know he doesn't actually ingest the brains.)

    Leonhard Euler, one of the best mathematicians of all time, lost his eyesight halfway or so through his life and had to have his sons do all his reading and writing for him. When I wrote this I think I had a point but I think it would be better to let people just infer points.

    Twitter is annoying(I wouldn't be surprised if he's a Microsoft plant put here to slander/COINTELPRO the FOSS movement) but that list(and all the other idiots who follow his every move, hanging on his every word as if it were God's) is even more annoying. It has the taste of laws that dictate things like "anti-social behavior" and all those other clever euphemisms. I stopped using the creative spellings months ago because they don't actually help my argument but if the creative spellings are all you can call him on he's doing pretty well.
