    I have tons of problems with IE. Lack of standards compliance sums up all of them. Continued lack of standards compliance is why it needs to die. They are the cause of the problem, and not a solution.

    Absolutely and totally incorrect.

    This reflects directly on the NYT, and if they don't hold their own journalists accountable for doing a bad job then it reflects directly on the NYT. Then again, this isn't the first time they've done a horrible job.

    You do hold your own accountable, else your quality control becomes nonexistent. That is indeed why quality control aka editors are supposed to exist.

    At what point do facts somehow become less convincing than John Broder's fabrication? Facts should be cut and dry, end of the day. If John is on one "side" and Musk is somehow on another, then you are simply misrepresenting "sides" to the story that don't exist. The opposite of facts is not another side to a story, it's called bullshit, and appropriately so. NYT doesn't get an all clear to do that any more than Faux news.

    Also remind me how people respond to hotmail selling your information to anyone and everyone, including signing you up for spam mail. While google does do advertising, they don't sign you up for product spam.

    What kind of argument is that?

    The point is, this study has zero correlation with REALITY. It's not about literacy, and it's not about GDP. None of these have any direct correlation to malware. Also, in many countries Windows is considered malware - so naturally they're labeled having a higher malware rate.

    Does this reflect on anything realistic, and/or should this even be discussed? No, because it's not relevant to anything.

    exactly. the compromises for all the network bandwidth costs are enormous. I don't think people realize that if you really wanted a quality onlive-equivalent experience it's probably going to be $50+ a month, which could easily translate to a high end computer every 2 years.

    facebook has said they endorse apple's "complete control" model. So anyone who trusts facebook after that, is making a big mistake - not one they weren't already warned of.

    Just like viruses, it's going to get a lot worse before people start figuring out what to do about it and what not to do. It's still in the "only the technical people who get it are saying stop using it" category.

    statutory damages are easily fought off by asking for a trial. This has been the fun/issue of all of the settlement shakedowns to exist currently. Get a letter? get a lawyer and immediately lawyer up, and watch them try to run away. refuse to settle, and go from there.

    it'll go through court, but it's impossible to pin on the individual unless they settle, preventing a court case.

    Or get a router that can isolate the private network from public, which would also do the same.

    Have you ever had significant repercussions from debunking what is essentially garbage? Have people ever actually threatened you for supposedly crushing any livelihoods, which were then based on fraud?
