Miguel has never HELPED the open source community. People just dont' recognize the difference between an open source program that benefits people vs an open source program that creates legal risk.

My reasons for "hating" MS are based on fact, not opinion - that's why people actually do care and read what I say. I don't need to spin things or mislead if the truth and facts that exist do a better job of hurting their own campaigns.

There are two groups responsible. One is Miguel, and the other is Microsoft. Considering that they're both pigs from the same trough, both are responsible for these issues. Yes taking money from MS is an issue. It pretty much specifies a lack of ethics. No major company that has ever done so ends up doing anything successfully with the partnership. see: Yahoo, Novell, Nokia, windows phone, facebook, Barnes and Noble.

The point is - mono becomes irrelevant if it's not functional. Mono (and moonlight) are not excused if they have a partnership between Microsoft and Novell that is causing a delay of multiple YEARS for implementation. That's not absolving Mono of guilt, that's the fault of Miguel. Considering it was a proprietary implementation in the first place it was almost impossible for anyone to legally work on the mono project anyway. Literally he became a willing plant for microsoft by looking to implement mono aka .net aka software microsoft stole anyway, designed in a fashion to break GPL.

They are doing so, but everything is stayed until december. The impact of the jury doing shit like this at the moment is zero. No precedent, case is not closed, appeals haven't even started and apple can't go after samsung for money. Also since the jury was so haphazard in their wacky judgment they decided some devices are not infringing - so samsung can have those immediately removed from the case and/or threats as well.

Basically, the jury made this really really complicated. Now's when the case is going to actually move forward, based on the judge's responses - assuming the judge doesn't try to sidestep the whole thing.

Keeping an application deliberately incompatible while releasing older versions which are still incompatible is not an example of a functioning piece of software.

MS: "you have to have silverlight version 5"
Mono: "version 2.1, no plan to upgrade". ETC. That's not open source, that's a fraud of a statement to call it anything other than acting like they care while doing nothing. Miguel is as shill as it gets, and always has been right up there with Florian - except that Miguel is already paid by Microsoft directly. Not that hard to figure this out.

google play ratings are as reliable as my own imagination is as an authoritative source. Most people will rate an app as follows, and you can replace "game" with "app" if needed.

"this game is awesome!" 5 stars
"this game is awesome!" 1 star
"this game crashes my phone! minus one star until it's fixed!" 4 stars
"this game crashes my phone!" 1 star
"this game crashes my phone!" 5 stars.

Ratings on google play are not only gamed (and yes, we know when they're being gamed), but have probably the most useless ratings of any system I've ever seen implemented. This is like saying "look at my yelp rating! look at my metacritic professional rating" while failing to acknowledge the hilariousness of said scores.

My argument does hold water, you're just too ignorant to accept that piracy has NOTHING to do with how you define your own quality. Your customers will pirate your app if they are not given the features they want in the app, which is reflective of that the quality of the app is not where they want it to be. But yes, please grandstand like you are an amazing app developer! we really care! (not really). If 95% are pirating, the question should be: How can I support those underwhelmed fans? Not: how do I fight it/piracy is bad. Fighting piracy does nothing for piracy rates, and to believe otherwise is to delude yourself. This has been covered a million times showing that piracy is beneficial .

In short, there is absolutely no valid argument that exists to complain about piracy, because it is beneficial. It is your own fault if you can't figure out how to take advantage of that.
