They are few and far between because the touch screen is really quite limited. You may want to believe that the problem is lack of familiearty, but the actual problem is that the screens have no tactile feedback, so it is too easy to remove your fingers from the 'buttons' if you are playing a button style game, and you fingers are covering the screen for other types of games. This works fine for checkers, chess and most physics games but for any kind of arcade game it stinks.

Bluetooth based controllers are here today. On Android search for WiiMoteController. It lets you use the WiiMote as a controller. It also support the Wii Classic controller. It works great.

If teachers really get no say, and just do what they are told, then all of the whining and complaining about teachers salaries is pointless, as teachers are no better than fry cooks at McDonalds. I think you need to reevaluate "less-qualified teachers" if they are providing a more effective education for less money. One of the many problems that the public schools have is their definition of "qualified". A Masters degree in education is about as useful for a 4th grade teachers as a degree from Le Cordon Bleu is for a McDonalds cook. In practice it might even be detrimental.

Saying "The counter to that is generally an uneducated response" before saying something that is obviously and completely wrong doesn't make you right. There is no reason that in depth games cannot be made for phones, but by and large, the games on dedicated hand helds are far more in depth. There is no reason grander games could not be made for the phones. The market just isn't there at this time though. I blame the controls. The touch screen is fine for certain games, but for most it just sucks. Maybe Sony will change the trend with their new experia, but until proper controllers are available for the phone, it will always be what you use when you don't have access to a good gaming system.

The irony in your statement is that studies that show the back seat is the safest place for children to sit are about as good as this one on the 3DS. They all look at what the results are AFTER a crash instead of looking at what caused the crash. Not one of those studies I have seen test for an INCREASE in accidents due to children sitting in the back seat. Most parents keep an eye on their kids. Particularly infants. If they are not watching them to see why the kid is making a particular noise, they are looking to see why they are being quite.

There is a wide gap between the statement "trying to operate a cell phone while driving" and "eyes are on your Blackberry". I will agree that trying to read and type messages while driving is a problem. Even more so than trying to tune a radio or pick a CD from that 300 disk case sitting on the passenger side floor, but saying that "You can always tell your passenger to shut up" is a silly way to claim that phone calls are worse than passengers. You can always tell the person on the other end of the phone to shut up also. Even more so, you can force the end of a phone conversation which is something that you cannot do to a passenger.

Yes, thinking that someone is more dangers having a conversation with a person because they are not in the car, while a parent trying to watch their kids in the back seat is safe makes you a Luddite. Your position make no sense. You are trying to look at the best case scenario of one because it is old, and the worst case scenario of the other because it is new.

I think you massively under estimate what it takes to retrofit a new motherboard into an old case and get the keyboard working seamlessly. Heck, most people don't even want to deal with putting a motherboard into a new case that was specifically designed to hold the new motherboard.

There is a big difference between becoming fully mature, and no longer changing in a positive way. No doubt the biologists you speak of are over the age of 23 themselves. This not only leaves a gread deal of room for conformation bias, but it also leads to definitions like "don't reach maturity until 23" instead of "begins it's inevitable degradation at 23".

Because then it could just be handed out without the heavy need to track where it goes. Your hunger? Have some food. Giving people food that they don't like the taste of is not abuse. We do it to our children all the time. At least the good parents do. This would cut the cost of all the tracking, reduce fraud, make sure people that needed it had access to it without needing to jump through hoops, and give an incentive to get off the government dole.
