  1. Sad how the laymen think... on New Robots and the Ten Ethical Laws Of Robotics · · Score: 1

And I'm still puzzled. What is the purpose of such a patent? How does this guy expect to make money with this "invention"? Is it so hard to believe that someone would wish just to help an AI construct? It's pretty late for me so i cant exactly go into this as i would have liked to, but to simplify it all: an AI construct, if created properly, is essentially like a human child. If given a true sense of honor, then it wouldnt go skynet on us, but instead choose to help humanity. Also, an AI construct should have the same rights as any biological being. Humanity is in the mind, not the body.

we already have digital to biological translations for a number of things, hell they have calculated pi through a test tube of living cells. it shouldnt be too difficult to take the scifi approach and simply find some way of implanting one of those in a relatively empty part of the body, that you would be able to plug a cord into for computor communication. Deus Ex style nano-augmentation is not as far off as peaple seem to (want to?) believe. the reason this shit takes so long to develop is simple: 1) governments fighting with each other 2) governments fighting amungst themselves 3) governments going paranoid about this/taking it over 4) peaple going paranoid about this. i shudder to think about how the whole abortion war (pro-lifers are chucking life bombs* into abortion clinics and opening fire nowadays, i consider that war...dont you?) will pale in comparison to the augment/anti-augment fight. It will all be worth it for one thing though. The look on the Amish's faces as soon as they hear about this.

computors should be illegal, and with them videogames. After all, computors are constantly used to cause millions of dollars and in some cases dozens of lives, to be lost. And likewise several armies have publicly admitted to training their soldiers with videogames... therefore it can be said that videogames cause violence. But of course we know thats all bullshit. just like we know this law is bullshit. The actions of the highly publicized few do not reflect in any way shape or form on the actions of the unpublicized many. no matter what these anti-gamer asshats want you to believe, the "bad guys" they have been pulling out of their hats are almost nonexistent. Technically low enough in numbers to be considered a nonentity. and if mod-chips are illegal, what about SDK's for pc games? those can be used to make hacks such as OGC and ltfx. but of course once again thats proven bullshit because anyone who does NOT have a near-terminal case of cranial rectumitis knows that SDK's are really used by the majority to create legit mods. likewise the the modchips. how do you think they got their names? -Shadow of Eternity

Yall are making such a fuss over this now, but you still dont realise just how hot the water already is. I think its time we did what our forefathers intended us to do with government, fight with it. It is every citizens right to fight tooth and nail with his government over matters they find controversial, it is every citizens DUTY to question their government should they have an issue with it. And no, said government does not have the privelige(sp?) of denying you an answer. Despite bush's desire for blind sheep to lead around, there are still those with their eyes open. It starts with camera's and police patrolling public area's (excessively, not just like in the mall and whatnot), and it progresses onward. 12. Re:Old... and useless on Are Mac Users Smarter than PC Users? · · Score: 1

I find the whole issue quite hilarious as comparing PC's and Mac's is like trying to say an apple doesnt taste enough like an orange. Macintosh computors (if that term can be applied) are generally used by peaple who simply dont wish to put the effort to rally their 3 remaining brain cells to go through the startup of a PC without it walking you through the process. I will admit that they have their uses (target practice), but really a PC is far more customisable and generally tend to be better even if they are lacking the power of some of the newer mac's. Its not what you have that counts, its what you can do with it. And thats the reason why PC's will forever be better in the long run than Mac's in all their magical technicolor trashiness. Of course dont let any mac lover hear you say that, or theyll prolly come down on you like a coal scuttle full of tiny anvils.
