"willfully bricking unlocked iPhones the way they did"
- they did? funny, mine was hacked to use another SIM (just to see if it worked).. and subsequent patches worked just fine. had to hack it again to continue using a TMo SIM - but it was never bricked. show me the source for your comment.
MMOGlider sits on top of the game and manipulates your character. it simulates human activity. watch the farmers in game, they do the same tasks over and over. move from point a to point b, kill mobs, loot 'em, back to point a, rinse and repeat.
"I've heard the same arguments about BitTorrent and would probably side with the software makers in this case... "...well, you could argue that BT has legitimate uses. MMOGlider on the other hand, not so much.
If you use it to farm gold, it messes up the economy.. which has an impact on others (you need to check the AH on my server).
1) you don't need a warrant to take equipment as long as the owner gives permission
2) the person in question was not just anyone that works at the library. it was the DIRECTOR of the libraries - 100 employees and a budget of 18 million (http://www.co.frederick.md.us/index.asp?nid=90). something tells me that HE (not she, as you assume) is qualified to make the decision. they don't put a "mildly educated" person in charge of that many people and that much money. A librarian is hired, a director is APPOINTED. (http://www.msa.md.gov/msa/mdmanual/36loc/fr/html/fre.html)
3) it's a government instution - not a private individual. I doubt a judge would even inquire about the validity of the 'evidence' presented in order to obtain a warrant.
i work for a bank - a BIG bank. secondary auth is required by the OCC. all banks need to have something in place by the end of this year for "high risk" transactions. they don't necessarily have to issue FOBS - out of wallet questions, and email/SMS OTP's are also acceptable (to the Fed).
why do some of you include the cost of the plan in the TCO for the iphone?
the new pricing model is the same for all phones (go to ATT and check - the data plan is for PDA/Smartpone, there isn't a line item for the iphone) - so regardless of the hardware you buy your plan is the SAME (minus PAYG which has been dropped for the iphone)
ATT PRESS RELEASE:
http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=4800&cdvn=news&newsarticleid=25791
The new agreement between Apple and AT&T eliminates the revenue-sharing model under which AT&T shared a portion of monthly service revenue with Apple. Under the revised agreement, which is consistent with traditional equipment manufacturer-carrier arrangements, there is no revenue sharing and both
iPhone 3G models will be offered at attractive prices to broaden the market potential and accelerate subscriber volumes. The phones will be offered with a two-year contract and attractive data plans that are similar to those offered for other smartphones and PDAs. AT&T anticipates that these offers will drive increased sales volumes and revenues among high-quality, data-centric customers. Currently, less than 20 percent of AT&T's postpaid subscribers have integrated devices capable of voice, Web and data applications. Based on the company's experience, average monthly revenues per iPhone subscriber are nearly double the average of the company's overall subscriber base.
With a two-year contract, the price of an 8GB iPhone 3G will be $199; the 16GB model will be priced at $299.
Unlimited iPhone 3G data plans for consumers will be available for $30 a month, in addition to voice plans starting at $39.99 a month.
Unlimited 3G data plans for business users will be available for $45 a month, in addition to a voice plan.
my bad - you're smart enough to shop around. I live in the SF Bay Area - so there are tons of options for me. I will not use the telco for the very reason we're talking about. I forget there are lots of places where you don't have options other than the big ISP's.. and you're basically at their mercy.. same goes for a campus network. in my case, the telco provides the copper from the CO to my door - nothing more - my ISP is a different company.
so the judge doesn't know what a website or forum is. doesn't sound material to the case.. if these guys are being brought up on terrorism charges, as long as the judge understands the concept of posting text or images in a matter that can be instantly viewed by anyone in the world.. he's probably qualified to preside over the case. i don't think the medium by which the suspects conveyed their message is critical
look at it this way - he's made the declaration early on in the trial. the defense and prosecution now have a chance to ask the judge to recuse himself so the trial can continue. if his declaration came after the verdict, the possibility exists for a mistrial.
at least he's not a certain Senator who pretended to know how the internet works, and made an ass of himself explaining to the rest of us how the tubes can get clogged.
Well - the link says copious amounts of water I doubt FedEx hauls thousands of gallons of water onboard their aircraft (where weight is an issue)... any fire suppressing capability is probably in the form of CO2.
"For larger fires involving lithium batteries, copious amounts of water may be applied, from a safe distance, to control the fire and protect adjacent materials and facilities"
if you can get within 20 meters of a address in a metropolitain area then get LOST because you lost signal... you probably shouldn't be allowed to drive.
