Wow, for once a redesign that isn't horrible and doesn't automatically make me want to go back! The javascript seems faster (finally) and the whole thing looks smoother, and into the 21st century. I wonder if unicode is supported yet. €
Oh, and in case anyone needs help getting the "Spend all my modpoints" achievement, I'd be happy to accept Funny mods. Here, I'll even tell a penguin joke.
A vacationing penguin is driving through Arizona, when he notices that the oil-pressure light is on. He gets out to look, and sees oil dripping out of the motor. He drives to the nearest town and stops at the first gas station.
After dropping the car off, the penguin goes for a walk around town. He sees an ice cream shop, and being a penguin in Arizona, decides that something cold would really hit the spot. He gets a big bowl of vanilla ice cream and sits down to eat. Having no hands, he makes a real mess trying to eat with his little flippers.
After finishing his ice cream, he goes back to the gas station and asks the mechanic if he's found the problem.
The mechanic looks up and says, "Well, it looks like you blew a seal."
"Hm? Oh, no," the penguin replies, "it's just ice cream."
I can has funny?:D
Wow that actually was funny, I'm surpriesed. *Stores for future reference*
This is a complete myth. Plenty of Wii games read the game disc continuously, and there is no evidence that continual reading causes any damage to the laser whatsoever. That said, DVD playing with homebrew is currently not the best quality and is a bit buggy, but things are improving week by week.
Seriously, if you can spend thousands boozing yourself up each year, you can't make the excuse that you're too poor to buy DVDs. But isn't all the boozing they're doing also a "victimless crime", considering many college students are under 21 yet continue to drink (or take drugs etc)? If they're breaking one law that blocks their enjoyment, why not another?
it's not going to be too long till a band gains bigtime real world fame and profit by first becoming popular through the internet and its associated media outlets, and the traditional media will pick up the ball after this, forever implanting them in the hearts, minds and wallets of the mainstream. I don't think it's happened yet, for many reasons, but it's gonna happen soon. That's exactly what the Arctic Monkeys did (or at least were described as doing by the MSM) here in the UK. The future has already happened...
It's far cheaper to make a 5-10 second phone call than it is to send a text
Not in the UK it isn't - a text message costs on average 10p whilst a phone call will have a 5p connection charge plus a few pence for 5-10 seconds. Plus we don't have to pay to receive like in the US.
Why is everyone so surprised?

Whilst this may have some relevance I still feel that both the internet and journals can have a place in society. People are much more likely to trust a paper published in an old, established journal than on some site they find on the internet, no matter how "reputable", especially if they are not used to the internet and its many delights. While the internet can be used for publishing discoveries quickly, and perhaps publishing discoveries which the journals may not publish, the journals will still publish the most important ones, and as such will still be bought, and will still survive.
There are various DRM removal tools for the various formats out there, and once you've done that you can convert to MP3, or even OGG with http://www.dbpoweramp.com/.
The naming system makes sense to me:
7x00
8x00
9x00
Xx00
X1x00
So just like 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, with the second digit being how high up in that generation it is. It's hard to make it any simpler, while still sounding snappy for the consumer.

Modpoints if I had 'em.

Why is it a loop anyway when it's only a one hit event? Surely an if would have been better?
No, the closest thing to a proportional representation system in the UK is voting for the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish national assemblies.
Why is everyone shocked at the total of 100 million iPods sold and calling conspiracy over it? After all, the PS2 had over 115 million units shipped worldwide by December 2006. Do people not believe that figure?
They did...
Does that make the rest of us accidental nillionaires?

To encourage people to have their account numbers ready for when they actually talk to a person to save on time wasted?
