Everyone's stepping over the obvious here.
Superman was created in 1939 by DC comics. Before this comics and novel had "heroes". By the very definition of the term "Superhero" you can see it clearly started with Superman.
Several years down the road, Marvel comics spun off of DC and they used the term "Superhero" to describe their characters.
Thus, Superhero was born and DC & Marvel were awarded joint patent. There is nothing to see here but mindless corporate bashing.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the linked article says:
In North America, the percentage of developers who use Java as one of their principal programming languages declined to 47.9 in Evans' fall survey, vs. 51.4% in the fall of 2002. ...Meanwhile,.NET usage increased to 54.1% from 40.3% in the same period in North America
Which adds up to 102% of the developers in North America. Either there is a large margin of error (as this doesn't even count other languages). Or Evans Data Corp does the worst statistical gathering ever.
If Microsoft wins the embedded device war, we can look forward to the following things:
1) Self driving cars which when infested w/ the Sassar2030 worm will all drive us off a cliff
2) All your personal information stored in a handheld device for your convience... and the convience of the 200+ Spyware programs that are automatically installed as you checkout at walmart
3) We will finally reach Jupiter only to find out the computer is controlled by a very evil looking red eye "I'm sorry Dave, but you need to download security patches"
I'm definitly not the guy involved, but the best tech support story I've ever heard went like this
User: My computer doesn't seem to be working
Tech: Can you be more specific?
User: Sure, the computer screen is black
Tech: Ok, can you restart your computer for me?
User: Yes, but that'll take a while
Tech: Oh, why is that?
User: I haven't had power for 2 days
Darwin please save us!
So our brains having a timing issue? Good job with concurrancy God!
