This is such an important development in medical field. The usage of augmented reality for surgery and the reseach in virtual reality for application in surgery have been going on for past few years, and the advancement in tactile part of the surgery (so far it's more of visual development, and the tactile technology of the system is not matured). The advancement would make the remote and collaborative approach to surgery even more feasible and better.
Uninstall Windows, install Linux.
Yes. No kidding. At least that was what I did to get out of game addiction in general. Though he can use emulator for certain popular games, but that's not as good as running hte games natively in Windows. Or to be more effective, don't install GUI, just leave him using CLI.
I did. Since then I rarely play any game. There's a lot more to do in Linux other than letting it sit idle. You'll have to spend time doing things like:
1. Why I can't semm to be able to install this program?
2. What? Dependencies?
3. What command to do this?
4. What? I've got to write bash script?
Lots more...
There are pirated version of Windows XP in China because they know Windows. This is definitely an efford to introduce FreeDOS to the Chinese so that they can make pirated version of FreeDOS instead... Chinese are nice though. They made pirated softwares and sell them cheap in my country. ha ha ha.
I really don't consider it a 'nerdy' thing.
Have you ever watched Texhnolyze? Evanger? Evangelion?... and other Mecha/Seinen anime.
I think the only anime you know are Akira & Ghost in the shell. I think Anime itself is part of Geek culture. Sure there lots other cute/moe anime that doesn't fit with Geek definition/interest, but out of thousands of anime, there are few thousands of "Geek anime".
See. He's an experienced Windows Network admin for 5 years. I believe that he won't take much time to (re)learn that in linux (and I believe he's already a computer geek since he is here. Geek won't take long time to learn linux). That's why I'm suggesting him to install Redhat/Fedora because the distro has lots of customised GUI apps for settings. Even if he attend the class, I think he still need to install it at home to "mess up" with different settings/possibilities.

They don't have to buy the newspapers to read manga. They download the manga.
For me they're doing the thing that should been done by for long time by the authority. Well done.
This the best article ever on Slashdot. Simple. Yet revealing. Follows the Zen path to eternity.
Whatever it is Microsoft sucks...
Productivity depends on whether you're comfortable with the OS or not, and what you're doing. It's a matter of choice.

Install one distribution (I'd prefer Fedora Core 1), then http://www.tldp.org/, then http://www.linuxquestions.org/. Free, but takes time.
It works. But, can't seem to wget this one...
