I'm going to have to agree with you on this. I NEED my MUSIC to get into a cool grove and code the day/night way. Hell must of the time it's just us programmers at night. For some odd reason the rest of my job place seems to think it's time to go home after putting in just 8 or 10 hours a day. They will never make it as a programmer. As so I NEED my music to keep on grooving. But, I want to get one of those government grants - I am positive I have found a way to make a time pass fast. Just program with good tunes and - presto its in the AM.
And not unlike their servers, some one stick a fork in that thing, I think its done. I have been wanting to tryout their service for some time. I have used wine in the past for a fair amount of success. If this works out as much as I hope I may have to pay for a subscription when this free one ends. Which may be the purpose of whole free offering in the first place. But, what the hell, even if there is a hook on the line it will be nice to support the ability to play Micro $aft games on my linux box.
I have never found any of the tech shows to discuss Tech for the most part. I wanted to her about the core level stuff, life what languages was best for what types of developments. What trends where in the works and how to best use them. How to make the most of product XYZ and not just O hey we installed it and it made nice pretty charts. I wanted to know how best to secure my networks and what products did what and what was the best approach and how to make product xyz do it. But, all I got was "Hey this is a neat new toy yall all need to go out and buy XYZ. Today show was sponsored buy the people who make XYZ, go buy it!" I want more than a bunch of commercials and cute girls pointing to the shinny new boxes.
The concept is that the skills are rare and require you to bring skilled people from outside the county to fill the talent/skill void. Why then are they allowed pay less? I was told that the scarcer the resource the more valuable it will be worth. So they should be paid more to work in a job with a rare skill set.
Plus, increased value in areas with to few people would create more interest by people looking to move up in pay scale.
But, people will buy products because of a superior price, not quality. Look at Walmart for example, they offer cheap inferior goods to the masses. People buy them over better more mature goods because they are good enough and thus since they are cheaper then they can buy a greater verity of other products and simply replace things as the go out, since they are cheap enough. Companies are forced to cut their margins to be completive in their respective market spaces and tend to cut at quality and labor force costs to reduce thier CGS (Cost of Goods Sold). makes for very tight margins. So your statement to 'Either make better software, or quit whining' does not work, you have to be able to give the best product you can for the least cost or a lesser cheaper product will eat away your market share.
I dont like this any more that the next guy, but we built this market model with the $ from our own pockets.
Your going to have to impression all of the COV players. And every thief type character in every game system on-line. Plus, Anyone who has ever picked a lock regardless of their class. I hope some one slaps who ever came up with this bright idea and help restore the person to reality. If the guy is playing with in his class(s) or sub class than he is to be applauded for enriching the game and making it more life like. If not the he is guilty of not playing his character not of committing a crime in the real world. If you missed this concept I have presented here then please request a refund for you MMORPG games and find a new hobby that does not require you to interface with the rest of humanity and you will not find a perfect work either in RL or on-line.
No, we need a digital midi cow bell.
