  1. Re:Right is not Right on Bill Gates Defends Google's Censorship In China · · Score: 1

I think that it is interesting that search results are censored in the U.S (everything MPAA complains about), and in Germany, try to do searches on nazis. The point is that most search engines already do censorship in the west, and now that big dangerous un-democratic china asks for similar stuff we all of a sudden apply a double standard.
I think it is great that Google develops on Chinas market as well, this way the chinese will get use to information, and be aware of which information is censoered. I belive the slow process of making a democraty of china is getting a small small push by all this

  2. Kevin Smit and superman on Superman V: The Sordid Story · · Score: 1

I watched a DVD with interviews of Kevin Smith director of Dogma and other movies, he had been aproached to write a script for superman 5 (he is a superman fan) and apperently the producer wanted to add stuff like giant mechanial spiders, armies of mutant polar bears at his hidout in the north pole, and other strange stuff. (that producer went on to do wild wild west with will smith, remember the big spider thingy) Anyway I think I would have been cool if Kevin Smith had done the movie.

  3. Use ion3 on Time Saving Linux Desktop Tips? · · Score: 1

The single most effective thing for me getting more efficient at work was to change from gnome to ion3. ion3 is always fullsized windows, so you cant move windows around, they are always maximized and that makes me work instead of clicking and resizing and moving the window about. Go for ion3 --tuite

  5. Kill the trolls! on Modern Humans, Neanderthals Shared Earth for 1,000 Years · · Score: 1

Just as slashdot readers want to get rid of the trolls, so did the french. The big difference is that they succeeded. But it took a while, around 1000 year. So fellow slashdot readers we have 1000 years of trolls ahead of us, but then we are troll free! :) (On a side note, I think I have read somewhere that the stories of trolls, which is a very old folktale, may have emerged when Neantherthals and Homo sapiens live side by side (probably killing each other at first chance).

  9. Imagine this! on IBM to Open Voice Recognition Software · · Score: 1

It would be cool if this was integrated into a project like dashboard http://www.nat.org/dashboard/.
Dashboard would create cluepackets from the speechrecognition software and dig up info on what whatever you are talking about.
I would be cool for a radiostation, they could get cool trivia on whatever the callers or dj is talking about.
And it would be cool if you just could pipe your favourite radiostation throught dashboard and get relevant info as you listen! ;)

Are you sure the landspeed record is broken? The SUNET record is over a single IPv4 TCP stream. Is this single stream or multistream, the article doesnt say. Anyways with that performance they probably could break the single stream record also.

Here in sweden they figure that fiber out in the smaller village eventually will pay off. More smaller companies out in the bush. Hopefully people will move from the towns and can work where they want to.
Also here in sweden we are seeing the beginning of a movement towards VoIP solutions. That would save money in the long run. One fiber to rule them all, internet, phone, TV ...
