I'm a so-casual-sometimes-i-don't-play-for-weeks WoW player, and so far it's taken me over 3 years to get to the mid 60s... and I've enjoyed every minute of it:)
Broken econ on the gimped server wouldn't be much of a problem up to level 20 you aren't going to use the AH that much as you'll be mostly picking up greys/whites that can be sold the NPC vendors for an ok value.
Having done both the Worgen and Goblin starter areas I can say that Blizzard have really put a lot of effort into drawing the player into the game without unleashing their Level 1 characters out into the real 'world'. What Blizzard now need to do is the same to all the previous races as their starter zones are as earlier commenters have mentioned; you are dumped into a newbie area, and all you have to do is run for 5 mins to the main city and there's the banker NPCs and the Auction Houses. Previously, I've only done the Orc starting 'zone' and other than a couple of 'here's how to kill things' quests (that you don't have to do) you are pretty much left to your own devices immediately with full access to the 'world'.
I'm like this, although not as extreme. I get bored with playing games quite easily. The number of games I've actually completed in my life can be counted on one hand. On the flip side, I have a source code folder chocka-block with half finished game concepts, and I'm always dreaming up new game ideas I'd like to implement...
Looking at the page code - it looks like he's written a generic x86 emulator in JS, and although booting Linux is undoubtably cool, has anyone tried to patch it to boot MS-DOS (or PC-DOS if you want to avoid any legality issues) ?
Just thinking about all those classic DOS apps that will never see the light of day otherwise.
Yes we have biscuits, but we also have cookies. Cookies are typically rough circular baked sweet dough with added fruit or chocolate. Most Cookies are also moist in the centre. They are also baked fresh and bought from dedicated cookie or bakers shops (you can get pre-packed cookies but these are horrible and dry).
Biscuits are dry (excluding the filling) and come in defined shapes. To use a common example, Oreos (also available in the UK) qualify as biscuits not cookies.
When an action is taken that requires a cookie, present the user with the user agreement explaining about the cookie, and also a login box (if they have a login they must have previously agreed to cookies). When they login or click through then set the cookie, session or permanent depending on your agreement or preference or whatever.
Way to go - that's brilliant way to scare off potential customers...
Most web users don't even know what a cookie is. All they care about is that the site they are shopping on remembers who they are, and makes adding things to their baskets and checking out as simple and easy as possible. No matter HOW you word the opt-in dialog, people will still get confused and click back to Google to find a less scary site.
The anti-virus people have done such a good job (sarcasm btw) telling people not to trust any non requested popups, that many will just assume it's a dangerous website trying to eat their computer.
I see this new cookie law having a direct impact on little independent web shops.:(
Ahhh, in that case, as an ocelot gynaecologist, you should be on Virgin Media's business package, which as far as I know hasn't got as draconian caps (I've not see throttling on my VM Business 10mb package - yet)...;)
A 'friend' of mine has an Easynews subscription. My 'friend' says it's way better at getting recent stuff than torrents. However my 'friend' also says that VM have been throttling the fuck out of it for at least 2 years now... If it wasn't for DownThemAll (awesome firefox add-on) my 'friend' would have given up on USENET a long time ago...
Oddly enough, Easynews is USENET but over HTTP/S, so it's not just USENET traffic per-se (can't recall the TCP port offhand) that VM are throttling.
...which is roughly the size of a 720p TV show rip. So if I want to download 2 episodes, or a full length film,...
Here's a radical thought for you. Maybe you should actually BUY the media content you want to watch. I'm sure you wouldn't go to work every day and not get paid for it, so why do you expect, nay, demand, that producers/actors/directors/etc should work for free ?
Ah, good to know. Maybe I should have read the documentation years ago ;)
Oh I forgot, to logoff:
Shutdown -l
(That's an L btw, not a 1 or an I)
Windows + R, then type Shutdown [-r] -t 0
The -r does a reboot the -t 0 is time till shutdown, in this case zero seconds.
Difficult to do if you are RDPed into the server as Ctrl-Alt-Delete doesn't work.

The trial level limit used to be level 10.

Can you provide some links to these services? Thanks.
Short and Anonymous this may be, it's still one of the most insightful statements in this whole comment thread.
Hmm quite. Venerable was the word I was going for. FAIL on my part...
The veritable Mr Bartle discussed this a short while ago: http://www.youhaventlived.com/qblog/2009/QBlog170509A.html

Time for /. to allow those with Excellent Karma to report spam-dudes like this.
Really? 2007 called, they want their rick-rolling back.

Cheers for the Bartle link - not an article I've read before. +1 virtual mod point for you.
Well yes, that would be the obvious way to do it. But imagine a world where we all did the obvious. :)
Doing it via his x86.js script would be much better, purely because it's there.
Unless of course you are saying I should run DOSBox on Linux on Javascript... which of course is just as mad and cool...

Ditto here as well. Had to highlight the whole link and copy/paste into new tab. FF 3.6 here.

I don't know - you mentioned the illegal content. You are the one whining that you can't do something that's illegal. Aw shucks.
