Prostitution on the other hand is completely different. There is no way to go back in time and suddenly make it part of society and acceptable. Even in certain past times when it was "acceptable" it was almost entirely in societies and were on the verge of failing with their eventual downfall not fall behind.
Lol. Shows what you know. Prostitution is legal in most of Europe as well as Canada.
It's not called the world's oldest profession as a joke.
ICBMs and aircraft carriers are so 20th century. The real big red button these days is in Beijing and is labelled SELL (err... in chinese).
No, that button is labeled MAD as in Mutually Assured Destruction. China would be fucked back to the cultural revolution if they killed the economic resources of their largest trading partner.
My question would be, why didn't 95% of whites vote for Obama?
Obama got a couple of percentage points more votes among whites than the last 3 or 4 democratic presidential candidates did. In other words, he did better among white voters than the last 3 or 4 white guys did.
No TI does not make such a projector, nor does anyone else. LED projectors perhaps, but not laser projectors that fit in a pocket. And nobody makes a commercially available scanning laser projector - as in the laser is directly aimed at the wall rather than just used as a replacement for a light bulb - of any size.
That's all well and good in markets where customers actually have a choice. In the markets where the options are Cable Company A or dial-up, the heavy internet-usage customers lose out and end up paying the exorbitant price of $1 per gigabyte.
Or they become light internet usage customers and society suffers as a whole because applications which require loads of bandwidth never even make it to market.
Nothing to do with net neutrality as long as you meter all traffic the same way.
The next step is clearly going to be "free" downloads from paying partners. Unless there is a radical change in direction, I give it no more than 2 years before we see the first such offering.
$1/gigabyte is just too prohibitive in a market where netflix and others are offering pseudo-HDTV movie downloads to anyone with a game console, the time is coming.
You might be able to find a handful of nutcases here and there, but in reality Christian societies aren't oppressing women.
You've never been to the philippines.
One filipina I know, from the lower upper class (her father has businesses in NYC and Beijing and she eventually graduated from probably the top university in country, Aetneo de Manila) was forced to marry her rapist at the age of 18 solely because he had raped her on the way home from church. And this forced marriage was done with the full participation of the local catholic diocese in manila. She was forced to live with the man for almost 15 years, bare him 3 children and routinely suffer beatings. She was finally granted an annulment (divorce is illegal in country due to catholic doctrine) after he bashed in her skull and left her for dead in the middle of the street while he was high on meth. Even still, the man has partial custody of the children and remains unprosecuted for his actions. If that can kind of shit can happen to one of the better off women in a 3rd world catholic country, you can bet it happens all the damn time to the poor and uneducated women.
Ironically, her mother converted to Islam a few years after my friend's 2nd child was born. Her faith in the church was shaken, my friend herself remains a catholic to this day.
So, yeah -- wives must obey their husbands, and husbands should "nourish and cherish" their wives as they lead & command them. Sorry, but that's a far cry from the modern concept of equal partners in a marriage.
Intereesting to me, that's almost a literal definition of latin 'machismo' -- women are meant to do whatever the men in their lives tell them and in return the men are to cherish and protect the women from harm. Unfortunately such inequality is so ripe for abuse that, well, it is constantly abused and the men don't live up to their half of the bargain.
I know that it's popular to blame Bush for all the ills of the world, but it is short sighted and unrealistic. If you want to bash him over things for which he is truly responsible, feel free. There's lots of material. Blaming him for this, though, is just lame.
One can certainly blame bush for focusing way too many resources on his war on terror and thus away from actual crimes like this one. Besides, nobody was "blaming him for this" they were blaming bush for not doing anything about this.
This is just another sad example of the American tendency to live beyond one's means. This is another symptom of the disease that is eating this country: financial illiteracy.
My, you are quick judge.
Have you considered that perhaps using an iphone is the best option available to them? Maybe they can't afford to get and keep a PC and full blown broadband service, but they still need ready access to tools like online maps, gps, webmail, instant messaging and web searches in order to get that edge which will enable them to get a better job and do a better job?
Is this just for MKBv7 (Media Key Block) or is BD+ permanently broken?
For the most part it is permanently broken. BD+ is just a very simple virtual machine - these guys reimplemented the virtual machine. So the disc publishers can write all kinds of new copy prevention code in the BD+ 'language' but the doom9 guys' VM will be able to execute it pretty much like any sanctioned BD+ VM would. The disc publishers might start exploiting non-standard or undefined behavior in the BD+ VMs (presumably most hardware players all just run the same BD+ VM from macrovision, so any bugs in it should be the same across most if not all hardware players) but such shenanigans won't be too hard to reverse engineer and include into the clone VM.
Now when the publishers switch to MKBv8 that will be a new set of AACS keys that will need to be rediscovered, but that's independent of and in addition to BD+.
Damn, all that pissing, moaning and accusations about my integrity to try and bait me into an argument and when I finally do make one arguable point, he is no where to be seen, instead he tags me as his enemy. I kinda had a feeling he was one of those "respect my authoritae!!! babies to begin with." Of course I'm smug about it, he just proved I was justified in not wanting to debate it with him in the first place.
I'm pretty sure not even the most extreme Muslims go around hiding their faith,
While I never verified it, because it actually sounded plausible, unlike so much else that comes out of places like jihadwatch - it has been reported that the 9/11 guys did have some sort of religious principle that permitted them to essentially deny their faith in order to better blend in with american society (shave their beards, skip their prayers in public, drink alcohol, go to titties bars, etc) because they believed they were on a mission for god.
What does it matter you bigoted, hateful bastards?
Hell, his muslim connections are one of the two reasons I like the man for the job. Having muslims in the family (his middle name is Hussein after all) and having lived in a moderate muslim society (indonesia) as a kid, he is one of the few politicians who has significant direct personal experience with muslims and thus I believe he will not participate in the continuing, counter-productive demonization that we've seen since 9/11. While I doubt he can single-handedly stop the fear-mongering towards muslims (and I don't have high hopes he's got the cojones to stand up and say that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself with respect to terrorists) I do expect him to lead a radical shift for the better in the discourse on the topic.
And, in case anyone cares, the other reason I like him for the job is because he is black. Yeah, but not just "jesse jackson" black - HAWAIIAN black. There aren't too many popolos (blacks) in Hawaii but if there is one state the embodies the ideals of the "great american mixing pot" it is Hawaii. The state is FULL of prejudice and bigotry. But it is an entirely different sort than exists here on the mainland. A gentler and more understanding sort. I think Hawaii's interracial culture is probably the best compromise that we can expect to see in a country as mixed as the USA where there are pulls to both homogenize the culture and to remain distinct.
Based on him spending many of his formative years right in the middle of Hawaiian-style ethnic integration, I think it is no surprise that he is the first black man to have a serious shot the US presidency - he is not mentally chained to the same antagonistic racial perceptions that people on the mainland have way too much of. When the whole thing with his church blew up in the press and he made a speech about racial issues in the USA I could hear very strong echoes of Hawaii in the way he addressed the issue. I think any kaamaina listening to that speech heard it too.
So, if I like him for these reasons, well then its only fair that it is OK for some people to dislike him for the very same reasons. I think they are ignoramuses for it, but I can't call them any more bigoted than I am. But then I believe in the Hawaiian way and think that being color blind is probably the worst way to deal with ethnic differences. The knife does cut both ways.
Dare I say it, they sound just as bad, if not worse, than the Islamic fundamentalists they rail against.
It's fundementalism / extremism that is the brain fart, it doesn't really matter what religion or ideology they've latched on to.
It was an epiphany that came when I realized that people who dig up bad shit in the quran are actively looking for bad shit which they can use to justify hating muslims. They are just the other side of the coin of islamic fundamentalists who dig up the same bad shit in the quran so that they can justify hating non-muslims.
But this is surely a US invented technology... and IMHO nothing to be proud of, as it already caused famines in Africa and, worst of all, was actually designed to lead to just that consequence.
Prostitution on the other hand is completely different. There is no way to go back in time and suddenly make it part of society and acceptable. Chairman of Democratic National Committee != leader of Democratic Party
Doh.
There is no actual evidence that Bush ever called the constitution just a "piece of paper".
Actions speak louder than words.
The president makes NO laws.
However, the leader of the party that dominates congress does make laws.
My question would be, why didn't 95% of whites vote for Obama?

What the hell are you complaining about?
And in many places in Mexico and Alaska it is essentially infinite cost per gigabyte.
So what are you complaining about?
That's all well and good in markets where customers actually have a choice. In the markets where the options are Cable Company A or dial-up, the heavy internet-usage customers lose out and end up paying the exorbitant price of $1 per gigabyte.

Yeah, they are really risking life and limb.
Clearly you have no idea of the concept of discipline.
Said the AC with no children...

I don't really care if I can copy my BluRay disks or not (I'm too lazy to back up my movies - if I break a disk and I like the film, I get a new one).
Clearly you have no children living with you.

EA's been all down hill since Archon 2. I'm not going to miss them.
Which is why BAE created BAE Systems Inc.
But this is surely a US invented technology... and IMHO nothing to be proud of, as it already caused famines in Africa and, worst of all, was actually designed to lead to just that consequence.
Bad link, I think you really mean this.
