  1. Troll? on Netscape 8 to Emphasize Security · · Score: 1

I don't consider that a Troll; I'm not confused or angered. These days a lot of the talk and news is about IE and Firefox, and I've heard more about them, the older Mozilla, Opera, and even Lynx more than Netscape these days (I have noticed a college counselor using NS though). As TFA says, Netscape (which the older Mozilla was based on) based the beta of NS 8 on Firefox--aside from added anti-phishing (which is big and necessary), it seems somewhat redundant now.

I think Netscape will be teh leading browser again though; version 8 just might do that, especially with their somewhat confusing "Internet Service" ads on TV at the same time.

Pimp My Ride is fine for MTV but should not be practiced as US space policy. The Shuttle has had its day. Stop sinking so many dollars into this antiquated, fragile, expensive money pit and design and build a space transportation system that belongs to this century, not the last.

Exactly. Much of what's going on now in the space program is said ride-pimping and self-maintenance (horrendously underfunded self-maintenance at that) Combine space travel with tax cuts and you'll see one of them just must go without perfect national conditions. Instead the U.S., like Microsoft, has lots of enemies worldwide, lots of security holes, and are now trying to create "rescues" like these for problems they helped make, by making strides sans foresight.

Unlike MS, the US has dug themselves in a budget hole, so it'll be tough to settle any of these trials/tribulations.

Rescue flights were hotly debated at NASA after shuttle Columbia broke up in the skies above Texas two years ago this Tuesday. Questions arose about whether Columbia's seven astronauts could have been saved.

No, not unless rescuers were launched by a full-speed ICBM the very instant the shuttle broke up. Unless Houston can immediately get news of a wing break, this is a non-starter. Space travel is an inherently dangerous business--going into harsh atmospheres (if any atmosphere at all), lack of gravity and air pressure to keep you in shape, old and tough-to-maintain equipment in space shuttles, etc; I'm shocked there's any debate.

If I was an astronaut I'd be thinking about my two choices during any mission:

    1. I return alive after a perfect launch and mission.

Agreed. What MS Office will always have (and Lotus/Apple/et al. before that had) is ad money. They can sell to the schools and offices that move formats in the first place.

Over the years, people at home bought/received WordPerfect/MS Word/etc 'cause they needed them to use the formats they used at school and work. What OpenOffice.org needs, I think, is an even larger word of mouth (or mouf?) campaign. People have to know it exists, that it can be used with the suites still used at work, and, of course, that it's a free download and legal to copy.
