Exactly right. They may give an advantage to a beginning player over other beginners, as they'll advise players not to do really stupid things, but they in no way elevate a player past an average poker player.
Look at laptop, cell phone, portable DVD player, etc etc etc etc etc, manufacturers and how they inflate their battery life figures. I realize that Nintendo is a sacred cow around here, but come on.
All I want are battery life figures that aren't coming from the manufacturer. From some game mag or game site that actually has the thing in hand and has been playing games with lots of bells and whistles, not some basic settings with the backlights off in some crappy "battery save" mode or something.
I've used the program. It's available at pretty much every torrent site. It's not so much a bot as something that tells you the odds of what you have a chance at getting versus what it thinks the other players might have. It then recommends what your next step should be.
It's not like this thing wins games for you. It basically does what the good poker player can do, look at their cards, look at the cards on the table, and then compute odds.
Unlike the GBA, the nintendo DS doesn't allow you to play your favorite nintendo games from other consoles... no NES, no Super NES, no N64
Maybe it's just me, but I haven't seen the N64 -> GBA ports.
There's no reason they can't release NES or Super NES games for the DS, and I'm assuming they most likely will considering the huge profits they make on them.
Oh... I tried, but I just couldn't stop myself. You had to mention that you're a feminist (for whatever reason as it had absolutely no bearing on anything whatsoever, as if being a feminist was a prerequisite to being offended by the statement you listed), so I had to mention this:
Feminism: The Radical Idea that Feminists are Women
It does appear, however, that they are supporting PCMCIA cards (as do some of the Japanese models). Look at the final pic on this page, in particular this image. On the left side of that appears to be a PCMCIA slot.
that any developers even have the option of developing for the PS3 available to them yet
I'm sure Sony has at least provided some fairly detailed documentation (wrapped in a nice tight NDA), possibly even code samples. Considering the development cycle of major titles is about 2 years now, and most likely will be even longer with a console as complex as the PS3, any PS3 game that would be available near the launch of the PS3 should already have some of the development foundation laid.
Our analysis has proved that though Media Center Edition 2004 is a boxed package that is easy to set up and configure, it looks amazingly beautiful, has great features such as On-Demand content, and is fully supported by Microsoft.
Wow... that sentence makes my head hurt. So, the analyis proved that MCE is the following:
I know it's not some new thing, but they're getting hit pretty hard this year. And you're statement about Ivan missing Florida is incorrect. Ivan hit the panhandle of Florida pretty hard. 300,000 are without power there.
although it's a joke, it's kind of an interesting point.
Late last week there were still some people who hadn't had their power restored from the previous hurricane. With all the damage that has been caused (with more possibly on the way - here comes Hurricane Jeanne) there will still be many buildings that need to be repaired well into November. Who knows what the state of repair will be for the election infrastructure at that point?

that talked about the future implications to the financial markets if gambling continued to grow.
Financial markets = (educated) gambling
how is this flamebait?

It's less useful than the article makes it sound.
Reliable = not coming from Nintendo

Anyone seen any reliable battery life figures for one of these?
According to the BBC site:
Liten Again:
What's Liten equal in American English?
Lighten? Lit? Apple?
I don't get it!

don't worry, that won't stop the mods from not reading the article and then modding you randomly
You know, sometimes these little "give and takes" that people post on /. are funny. This one was in no way humorous or entertaining.
Thanks!
I think I'll just bring a random number generator in the voting booth with me and based on the value
