Arcology Have not seen this word in use since minimum 2 decades. Had to look it up, as I was unsure if there was a typo or something, as the german version is written quite different...
Why not issue debit cards for use in buying meals from nearby vendors? Because a 30 minutes lunch break, which many employees prefer, would turn into a 90 minutes lunch break, and make your work day one hour longer.... for nothing.
and don't buy things from the local stores. Of course they don't by at local stores... no restaurant would do that, unless the bread went out or something. They buy at the market or get it delivered from a wholesale merchant.
Rofl, I did not say the article claimed it has a CF of 0.5.
I said: you did not read the article. If you had read the article you knew: the panels are sun tracking, hence: with a little bit of IQ, 85 or 95 would be enough, you can easily conclude that it has a CF of ~50% (considering that it is in a desert and you only need to account for 2 days of clouds and 1 or 2 days of a sandstorm... so we are around ~48%, aren't we?)
Have a nice day, you super expert for power production and GMO via "mutations";D .
Only x%.. you say 2%.. of the world energy is solar because not many companies invested into it. Why you still rant about reliablity is beyond me. Solar power is 100% reliable just like any other power source in the planet. And unlike a coal palnt that could in theory have a malfunction, solar power never has a malfunction. So yes: you still keep mixing up reliable with dispatchable. No idea why.
Or do you really want to claim that tomorrow at your location the sun might have a chance not to rise reliable as it did the previous 4 bilion years?
Of course the article is not talking about CF. But you claimed the CF would be in the 20% range, which is wrong. And the fact that you can not deduce that from the article makes you not look very bright:)
Your ranting is interestig... Hint: every solar thermal power plant has a CF far above 50%
You have abolutely no clue what you are talking about.
The solar plant in question is in a desert, over the course of a year 50% of the time it is covered by sun. The solar plant in question is tracking the sun by moving/tilting its panels. Hence the solar plant in question has - minus a sandstorm every few years, minus a rainfall once or twice a year, minus the fact that the rising and setting sun loses about 1% due to the atmosphere thickness - a CF of ~50%
If you are not intelligent to grasp that, do us a favour and stay out of discussions about solar power.
And why is the anual output relevant for the power/energy the plant is producing tomorrow? (Your CF was wrkng anyway, as you did not read the article:) )
Claiming that one has no clue, who worked about 10 years for power companies is idiotic.
Hint: the power plant in question has a CF of ~0.50, which you would know if you had botherd to read the article.
Contrast communism, where the means of production are acquired by genocidal murder of tens of millions of people. That is nonsense, comunism only means that means of production are property of fhe people, like it should be. And hence there is no point/way to aquire them.
GMO labels inform the customer that a certain item contains GMOed food. It is as simple as that. If you are against it, you are restricting customers to make informed choices:) Which means: you are an asshole. No labels gain you nothing, labels don't make you lose anything. It is a zero sum game for you. But you want to impose your world view on others, hence: you are an asshole. I assume most assholes can live with the fact that they are assholes easily.
By evolution, not by mutating an existing gene. Perhaps you might want to look up what a gene is... and how likely it that mutations result in a useful gene... good luck.
No, no one modified a gene in GMO food. They add genes, artificially. Usually from other speciems and often from the other realm, like animal into plants...
Perhaps you want to look up how the so called golden rice was produced, Hawkins. Then you will realize that there is no way in producing that with mutations, Idiot.
I call younan idiot, because there is no food labeled 'non GML,' why the funk would one label the obvious and why the funk are you against labeling the non obvious?
Is your fruit juice labled: 'contains no alcohol?' Is your beer labled with 'confains x%' alcohol?
Again: stuff that does not concern you, you should simply keep your opinion to your self. You cause harm to others by not labeling 'whatever', and you have no gain from it. So why the funk do you want to make other peoples live miserable when it costs you nothing and gains you nothing? The simple answer is: you are an a.....
My argument is pretty simple. You throw in a term you don't understand, CF. I made that pretty clear in my previous post. Why you call this 'incoherent' is beyond me.
Perhaps you want to look at the power plant in question, and as a mental challange, calculate the amount of power it will produce over the course of a year? Hint: your idea of 'CF' wont help you in that. Another hint: perhaps it helps to read the linked article:)
No worries, judging from your braindead post before, you will be off by a factor of 2 - 3...
Kelp, algae, nuts etc. *are* reliable sources. Again: I dont't care about vegans, if they are so braindead not to eat cheese, they have to look for themselves where to get B12 from. I simply loath the american way of lying about simple nutrition facts and the wide spread aceptance and repeating of thise lies on the internet. Meat is the only source of B12!Wrong!
I bought a pocket wifi hotspot for traveling. A second phone is a no go, why should I spent another $500 or more for another smartphone? I won't buy another iPhone unless it is dual SIM. My old iPhone 4S is just fine, has a new battery since 6 month, too.

They buy at the market or get it delivered from a wholesale merchant.
In countries like France, that works without any problem ...
I don't work ... or even get out of bed, at times that can be written with one digit in the octal system.
And how would you make public schools worthy for kids?

Then explain me why in a desert around 12AM solar power is unreliable ....
Or at any ofher place or time?
There is completely reliable no sun at mid night, and there is completely reliable ligh around noon, unless you live close to the poles.
Again: you are mixing up dispatchable with reliable.
Regarding the costs, solar is the second cheapest power source, after wind, since nearly a decade now ... get up to date man.

So, you need several shelfs to sell corn? ... so consider me ignorant :)
Well, here no one sells corn or buys corn in supermarkets
As I'm a meat eater and beer drinker: my B12 level is just fine. ...
Idiot
No, CF is completely irrelevant for that.
Then you should be abundantly aware of the high costs and low reliability of solar power.
Solar power is neither expensive nor unreliable.
You keep mixing up 'reliable' with 'dispatchable'.
Two complete different things!
My argument is pretty simple.
You throw in a term you don't understand, CF.

Because a country where the majourity of the population is poor, is not a rich country, and most certainly not the richest country on earth.

America is also the richest nation in the world with the 3rd largest population.
What are you smoking?
The richest nation on the world is San Marino, according to GDP per Person:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
Regardless what metric you use, US is in no way rich. Well, you could count the milionairs and billionairs ... probably then they win.
