Perhaps we are turning this into an argument over semantics but I think it's more accurate to say there is a functional deficiency of acetylcholine receptors (the acetylcholine itself is unaffected by the disease). Anyway those are my two cents. Cheers!
Actually myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disease that presents itself when receptors in the postsynaptic membrane of neuromuscular junctions are recognized as foreign by one's immune system.(see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myasthenia_Gravis)
What happens if one injurs the finger he uses as his biometric passcode (such that his fingerprint is unreadable)? Perhaps one scans each of his fingers, figuring that the chances of injuring all ten digits is so low. Incidentally, does anyone know if small injuries, such as papercuts, throw off the fingerprint scanners?
There actually was no attempt made to catch the probe. The drogue chutes on the probe failed to deploy which made it impossible to effect any sort of a catch. (although you are right that the concept was essentially to catch the probe on a hook and a stick)

Hint: think "pate."
"None had been fired," he said. "This points to a command and control problem," not to any failure of the parachutes themselves.
