there would be a true semantic structure in each article, authors would make statements to add ideas and those statements would be reified, that is each statement would have an author, be it AC. Then everyone would be free to build a confidence net and evaluate statements in this perspective. It should be resistant to gossips as - opposite to real world society - information could be tracked down to it's source.
but I realise there are some users who want to open up one program and then start typing an e-mail and buy movie tickets within the same app (a few years off in WMP)...
You mean like a browser?
These are human biaised discriminative programming metaphors. A monkey would use a banana tree. The banana are right on top of the tree and multiple monkeys want to eat the bananas.
They line up on the tree from top to bottom to access them. The bottom monkey will only access the bananas once all other monkeys are gone.
I wonder if the agreement states the *minimum* power. Indeed I'll bet they are working on scalable fusion bombs that do not require a fission bomb as a detonator ( and thus are at least as powerfull as a fission bomb which is a lot )... if it is so they could potentially produce atomic bombs of any size, opening the possibility of a dangerous escalation in a conflict since there would not be any threshold to cross. Dangerous.
I have no objection in ISP charging web sites for being accessed, it's their right to do so, it's their fiber etc.
Well theoretically. The *real* issue is that ISPs have a quasi monopoly. In fact it's a fairly natural monopoly, there's no point in companies digging parallel pipes in the ground. The same problem could arise with electricity. The energy providers can't really do evil, but what if the guys who own the cable starting charging the appliance builders to work with electricity. In the end it all comes back to owns the fiber... even if a monopoly controls it, it can't do a lot of damage since a competitor could profit and start placing evil-free fiber. Google anyone?

and it all makes sense if you consider the important value: entropy, S = Q / T
the relevant value is 1 / T, not T
1 / 0+ is wildy different from 1 / 0- while 1 / +infty is like 1 / -infty
Are you kidding me...
I have an expensive high-end laptop, yet I would definitely buy a crank for it if it were available. Ok I am a nanoscopic niche market. But still...
Other than the cool factor (I am a geek, yes I DO find it cool) there were so many times where I was left battery-less, I would really buy a crank.
My only concern is the size of the thing. If they could make it light (carbon fiber) and foldable to the size of a laptop battery, I'd be the first customer.
You are TOTALLY right... I can't imagine why I never tried it... it's still not on par with excel but it's good enough for me to replace excel, it has a strong scientific appeal (as opposed to OOo,kspread focusing on everyday use) which I find great!
gnumeric rulez
really...
I work in finance where virtually everyone uses excel.
Try plotting a 1000 points chart in OOo. It will take a very noticeable time and the default behavior will be to have an ugly "row" written under every point! In excel the graph appears instantaneously and looks neat.
Actually excel is the only software I miss under linux (cxoffice rulez though)... many people mention photoshop, but the gap between OOo calc and excel is 1 order of magnitude more than between photoshop and the gimp. At least for my use. It's really too bad:(
Kchart is also slow as hell by the way.... I wonder what;s specific with excel's implementation of charts...
If you go with the standard Desktop PC with Windows etc, they'll pretty soon end up on MSN or AIM or worse Myspace as it has been said before. My chance was that - when I was 9 - my first encounter with a PC was with a n old old DOS with only one "funny" program, Gwbasic.
Now a good thing to do might be introduce them to a linux distro, how to install programs etc... ubuntu might be a good choice for that.

Tell me how much you make on a CD, I'll double it up, send it to you and feel free to download the songs on the net.

But I'm curious to know it Frank-N-Furter is going to appear in this article.

Group velocity is what carries information, faster than light phase velocity is perfectly ok with Einstein's theory.
experiment: A0 = 0 An+1 = An + normsinv(rand()) plot A0 to A1000, go get a cup of koffee gnumeric is the only decent excel competitor in that area
html formatting bug..
