First you assume this is a "problem". Did you ever stop to think that maybe some people would like their skis to have RFIDs? If so, should your desire trump theirs? If all skis have RFIDs, then you should start your own ski manufacturing company that doesn't put RFIDs in the skis. If you aren't successful well then tough. The market has spoken. No constitution on earth(even in Switzerland!) states that you have a right to skis. You either take what the market produces, produce your own, or don't use the product. Simple as that.
I know a lot of people on this site don't like to face up to this, but freedom cuts both ways. People seem to think they should be able to do whatever they want, but go crying when someone else reserves that same right for themselves.
I'd like to see any Windoze network that is no plagued with problems, regardless of what is done to it.
And using a word like "Windoze" really does show your objectivity. Despite your fanboy ravings, there are plenty of Windows networks that are problem free and there are linux/mac networks plagued with problems. Come out into the real world once and a while, it's bright out there.
I would say I suggest you do your research ahead of time if you don't want RFID tags in your skis. See, it's simple: if you don't buy the skis with RFID tags in them then you don't have to worry about RFID tags in your skis. Obviously if enough people don't buy skis with RFID tags in them then the companies that produce said skis will go bankrupt. Freedom in action.
And if you cannot be bothered to do your research ahead of time, don't expect me to care when you whine about the RFID tags in your skis.
Which is why slashcode really should add a check in to see if the link has been already used. I mean, come on, this isn't even a different link, there is no excuse for that. After it was coded it wouldn't even take the editors any extra time, if they hit "submit" it could flash up a warning saying that link was already used. They could still override it if they wanted, but it would spare us at least some dupes.
From the blog: "There are no less than 3 blowers inside the machine" I wonder if the machine is quiet(can anyone comment from firsthand experience?) Some of the Rev. A iMac G5s sounded like a jet taking off, but it appears they fixed it in later revs. I want to get one of these bad boys, but only if they are silent.
Regardless of what OS you use, you are never 100% secure. Much like safe sex, stick to stuff you know is safe and 99% of time, you should be fine. If you do decide to venture into the internet darker corners, then "protect" yourself as much you can, and of course never assume that "it will never happen to me"
Windows 3.0?! Ok, if it was a problem back then, why didn't it get fixed when the security environment changed? Windows has too much of a legacy going for it, and I'm surprised they held on to it this long. Apple realized that it's legacy code was no good years ago and succesfully ditched it in favor of something more modern, why can't windows do the same?
Re-read my post: However, the Americans can buy it for much cheaper than in Japan or as far as I can tell Europe(It's about $60 per dvd for some series in Japan, and I saw a bunch of anime at a comic book shop in Austria going for no less than 30 euros. But that same store was also selling a snoop dog action figure for 65, so they may not be representative)
I am aware of how expensive anime is in Japan, which is why I pointed it out by saying "Americans can buy it for much cheaper than in Japan":P
the common Japanese only needs to know about 500 or so kanji to be literate, resorting to hiragana and katakana the rest of the time. The common Chinese needs 1200 (Since it's all chinese characters).
Huh? If all you want to read is children's stories than maybe, but there are about 2000 "everyday use" characters determined by the government, and well over 1000 of them are taught before grade 6. Chinese meanwhile has well over 2000 characters(though the government eliminated many more when organizing the first mass literacy campaign in Chinese history). The 2nd highest level of the Japanese Language Proficiency test suggests you should know at least 1000 characters, and that is considered minimum for most jobs where you need to speak Japanese on a daily basis....
The reviewer states that the first season will set you back about a benjamin if you buy it on DVD. Meanwhile, a season of the Simpsons or Futurama is at most $40, and you can get it for under $30 if you are good at hunting bargains, so why is anime so much more expensive? I know it costs a little more to produce, plus you have translations etc. but I fail to see how that is $60 worth of services. However, the Americans can buy it for much cheaper than in Japan or as far as I can tell Europe(It's about $60 per dvd for some series in Japan, and I saw a bunch of anime at a comic book shop in Austria going for no less than 30 euros. I'd buy more anime if it was priced sa
Can they add a phone without clunking up
on
iCell in the Works?

the interface? Hard to say. To me one of the biggest appeals of the iPod is it has the best damn interface there is for a portable music player. Now is it possible to keep this interface while adding a phone interface? Of course I could be wrong, but I'm guessing no. All they need to do is to give Nokia a ring to find out just how difficult it is to make a phone that also does something else. Face it, humans probably aren't going to change significantly in the next 5 years so we will be stuck with the limitations our little fingers and faces give us. To me, that is the biggest obstacle facing convergance devices.
You can do it now, all you gotta do is get the PPC version of virtual PC. I mean sure you are emulating PPC hardware on x86 hardware which is in turn emulating x86 hardware, but come on, how bad could it be:P
Yikes, if this is the quality of an editor submission, no wonder Roland, Scuttlemonkey and Beatles Beatles get their submissions accepted.:/
Just an FYI, ScuttleMonkey isn't a submiter, he is a slashdot editor, IE one of the people who accepts or rejects stories!
because no CS (grad/advanced undergrad) ever gets the job of killing mice for science. I had a friend who was a chem major and he was getting paid $10/hr to hit rats in the head with a piston then anesthetize them and decapitate them to evaluate their brain. I got to code a program that calculates the number of primes less than a certain number. Who is the winner in that contest....

If Safari works, would Konquerer? They are almost one and the same, though I don't know if you could run Konquerer or not...

It's a UK company, so I would guess they are trying to capture at least some of the market....

Yes, but attacking prions will allow us to eat raw cannibalistic cow brain with impunity!
but not for The Burninator? The injustice!
But the "dept" is different, so that makes it a different story!

Nope, sorry, dead.

Joke about previewing comment here.

I wonder if this Neal Goldman was in the AV club during high school and had a crush on a girl named Meg.
