But as a tradeoff you have to deal with infinitely more complicated syntax, an incoherent mish-mash of ideas, and perhaps the most (imo needlessly) complicated programming language on the planet.
The great thing about C++ is that it incorporates a lot of good ideas, the shitty thing about C++ is that it incorporates a lot of bad ideas. C++ is the CORBA of the programming languages world, a noble idea that got corrupted by trying to satisfy everyone by taking a union of features.
C certainly has its faults(its 2011 god damnit, standardize #pragma once...I hate fucking header guards!), but at least it is more coherent than C++.
My recommendation is to teach students any language BUT C++.
My guess is you never read Brave New World. Read that and then come back and tell me that society really should be dictating what people can and cannot do with their lives.
This is pretty much one of the 2 major services Redhat offers(the other is support). They pretty much backport all security fixes(and most bug fixes as well) while leaving everything else as stable as possible. That way you can continue to run your machines without worrying about some new whiz bang update breaking everything.
Its not just money, everyone seems to think that the country China is most likely to go to war with in the next 50 years is the US... Its not, its India by a long shot. Now of course there are the usual border issues, competition for scarce resources(esp. water), the fact that the two have gone (briefly) to war before.... but theres more to it than that, the bigger issue is demographics, namely the male to female ratio. China is forecasted to have about 35 million "extra" males, India 25 million. What is the best way to keep that many young and horny men under control? The military. And of course with all that extra military might just sitting around, both countries are going to want to flex their muscles and put all that power to good use(plus a war might help rid themselves of those excess males in a hurry)....and its not just the generals you have to worry about. Many a war has been started because some young, bored, sex starved dude just decided to get a little trigger happy without direct orders, that may very well happen with China and India.....
Pakistan realizes this and since it will probably never be able to beat India in a direct fight, it is kissing up to China so that in the event a war between the two nations does come to pass, Pakistan will be in a prime position to capitalize on it.
Ultimately it does take two to tango, it was equally the fault of greedy people taking on more mortgage than they could afford thinking that house prices were magic and would keep going up forever(never mind the laws of supply and demand)
Of course the difference in how different the two are lies in what happened AFTER the bubble burst. The greedy joe schmoe lost all the money he put into his house, the greedy wall street bankers not only got bailed out(thus proving that rewards belong to the rich, consequences to the poor), has been making out like a bandit on the tax payers dime all the while still *complaining* about how taxes for him(not joe schmoe mind you, just him) are too high.
I would take the rich's bitching about taxes a little more seriously if they were not the first ones with their little grubby hands out looking for a handout after their own stupidity got them in trouble in the first place. Now I can understand Bush's reaction, he too was a trust fund kid who never learned that there were consequences to his actions as his daddy always bailed him out after one of his business ventures would inevitably fail, so you can understand why he would think the rich facing consequences is unfair. What I dont get is why Obama largely continued the program, only to get nailed by the same people who started the program because he was "spending too much" on the programs that Republicans started..... Obama you walked right into their trap.
Well that and the fact that China taxes Apple products(and most "foreign" products for that matter) out the wazoo and these stores were getting around it by sourcing their stuff from abroad(probably almost exclusively Hong Kong) and then selling them in China without paying the tax....
For comparison, I just checked the price on an entry level macbook air in China compared to the US, its about 25% more expensive in China, probably almost entirely due to taxes placed on it by the Chinese. Those same taxes do not get placed on goods made by Chinese companies.... And yet China constantly criticizes other countries for being "protectionist". Apparently China is allowed to be protectionist, but nobody else is.
You know, in considerably less time than it took you to kvetch you could have, oh I don't know, read the fucking summary and got an answer to your question. I know restraining the urge to bitch on the Internet is tough, but all I'm asking is that you keep it under control long enough to actually read a few sentences. It would save a lot of time and aggravation if you did so.
Science still requires a "leap of faith" if you will, but it's entirely different from that of religion. Namely, science is, at it's core it is a system of observations and predictions, with a framework that allows others verify those predictions given the same observations. How well it models "reality" is a separate, and ultimately philosophical, issue. To put it (overly) concisely, there is a branch of philosophy that states that we cannot truly "know" anything because we can only learn things through our senses, senses which may be flawed, thus giving us an interpretation of "reality" that might not really be "reality".... you ever see or hear something that wasn't there? Thats the most concrete example of your senses being flawed.
Now compare this to religion. Religion states that there are things that are part of reality that we cannot sense or understand. Basically saying that are senses aren't flawed per se, they are just somehow insufficient and thus cannot observe the "higher" powers etc.....
To put it in a sound bite, science requires you to believe what you can sense, and only what you can sense is real, religion requires you to believe there are things that are real that you cannot sense. These are two very different interpretations of the words "faith" and "knowledge"
Agreed. If you're going to create a fictional world of bullshit, don't violate the rules set forth by said bullshit. Immersion in the suspension of disbelief only functions if one remains consistent.
But unlike films, where the creators are in complete control, how do you not violate rules in a game without making it unplayable? One life and thats it, the game is over? You wont win very many fans that way(and that has been done before, it was actually not all that uncommon in the NES era until game companies realized that people absolutely hated it)
You might want to revisit your history before commenting. I wasnt trying to draw parallels to right after the war, I was trying to draw parallels to peak factory employment. Hell through the 50s and 60s Germany had so few young male workers that they had to import them "temporarily" from abroad. Thats part of how the whole immigration mess got started, at least there. From pretty much the early 50s to about 30 years ago factory jobs were plentiful, pretty much any (male) that wanted one could get one and could enter the middle class. Not to mention they were a hell of a lot more meaningful then walking around in a smock all day listening to people bitch you out.
Now unless you have an education, and sometimes even then, the # of jobs that are open to you that will provide a middle class lifestyle are almost non-existant if you dont already have one. Germanys GINI coefficient is rising, especially among the young.
Its really hard to pinpoint an exact cause, but it should be noted that neo-nazism is much more prevalent in the former East Germany, with its much higher unemployment, than west, which is considerably richer. Furthermore its quite popular among young men without university educations, who get royally fucked over in Germany(not as bad as in the states, but still). All the strikes work out great for the older people who have jobs, but they make it much more unlikely the companies are going to hire any more people, which sucks hard for the young Germans.....
I also guess it really depends on what you define neo-nazism as, to some Germans doing anything that vaguely takes pride in some sort of German cultural identity is neo-nazisism, and to an extent I think the whole movement is just a response to that.....
But ultimately the extremists in Germany are largely comprised of the same types of people, those who cannot get meaningful jobs/work, as it is anywhere else in the rich world. You arent likely to see a lot of engineers in the hard core Japanese right wing socities, but you do see people who 30 years ago probably would have ended up in a factor with a decent middle class lifestyle. Likewise you arent going to see a lot of scientists in the religious right, but what you will see are people whose best hope in life is to get a job working at Wal-Mart for low pay and no benefits, people who again 30 years ago probably would have had a comfortable middle class lifestyle with a job that actually had at least some, maybe not a lot, but some significance. People need meaning in their lives, if they cannot find it at work, they are going to find some other cause to get behind, and the results are rarely pretty.
TFA doesnt actually specify which of the two types of wrong he was, ie false positive or false negative. False positive means that he predicts you will befriend bob, but you dont. False negative means that he didnt predict you would befriend bob, but you did. If his "wrongs" were only false negatives and he didnt care about false positives, then its pretty easy to get a 0% false negative rate, predict you will befriend everyone!

Your darling Republicans arent exactly innocent. Google bush and "ownership society". Nuff said.
The whole riot can be summed up with a page from "Our Dumb Century" describing the Rodney King riots in LA, "Rioters demand justice, tape decks"

I thought "case and point" is what you do when you can buy beer and your friends cant, ie buy a case of beer and then point and laugh at them.

Um, unless somehow the fake apple store people have hacked apple.com/hk to sell there stuff, I'm pretty sure its the real apple site.
The prices I quoted were from the Apple site, so I doubt its something that just "fell off the truck"
For comparison, I checked the Hong Kong price, its actually CHEAPER(by about $15 US) than the price in the US is.
Well that and the fact that China taxes Apple products(and most "foreign" products for that matter) out the wazoo and these stores were getting around it by sourcing their stuff from abroad(probably almost exclusively Hong Kong) and then selling them in China without paying the tax....

Ah, by the time I started using NT the ping had already been fixed, Windows 95(98?) would picture frame though.

Im all for gamification, how could you not want womens legs to get even more attractive?
