The problem here is with the usage of the word free. Time and time again, it is specifically stated that the word refers to "freedom", not price. Perhaps this is the fault of the English language, but we are stuck with it. Without the proper context of the word, the discussion naturally is derailed into nonsensicaly bullshit. I actually do have a feeling that you know the difference, so this isn't directed right at you. But discussions of price should not even be on the radar as that aspect is generally incidental.

You're over analyzing. From what I understand the cause and effect are a fair bit simpler in nature. ADHD (or ADD), as far as I comprehend it are caused by a supressed function of the brain (as opposed to an overactive one). There is a controlling function that isn't doing the controlling it should. Caffeen "wakes" up that structure, and it starts to exhibit more control over impulses. Net result is that the individual feels *calmer*.

For example, I'm currently writing some SQL for a project of mine, and it'd be really helpfull to be able to see the results of my queries in real time as I write them out (especially since my SQL is so rusty).

Do yourself a favour, and type those queries out on your dev db server, then please stop bothering the rest of us.

This post does not, at all, recognize that a relational db is a separate system from whatever app they're working on. If they choose to delegate their data storage capacity to a db, then you will have to work within the framework of that system!

So what's the real blocker from firing up query interface and sending in a query for testing? And how does an IDE solution help you in realizing that that is what you need to do?

IDEs do not solve the problems of ignorance or stupidity.

Add leet speak to that mix. Not to mention that when one reads it's often enough to have the first and last letter of a word correctly placed, while the other letters can be completely garbled, as long as they are there. It seems, and I could be completely off, that spelling and grammar isn't about the words. It's about the words that aren't written.
