If someone has signed their card CID, then that is their signature as far as the card is concerned, a signature is a way for a person to represent themselves on paper, it doesn't neccessarily have to resemble the persons name in any way, so as long as they reproduced the CID on the receipt then that should be accepted.
UK has all switched over to the chip and pin system now so no signature required, even better, of course its extremely easy now to just watch everyone enter their pins so if u get that its straight to the cash machine and withdraw everything:)
In my humble oppinion, the reason that students who have easy and regular access to computers fail international numeracy and literacy tests is all the automatic correction and easy to use mathematical tools that are available in the software that is easily accessible, so as to the argument that in the long run this will improve students results in this area i would disagree. The argument here wasnt that students are being unproductive through the use of computers it was that numeracy and literacy suffered, this has been true for numeracy ever since calculators have been allowed in schools, maybe just let students use computers after they have grasped the initial concepts for the relevant subjects? And yes i'm sure there are many mistakes in what i have typed so no need for the funny, u must have used computer at school comments:)
I saw an interesting program recently about the BBC's plans for the near future. These included doing the same sort of thing they do with the radio broadcasts (listen again for a week after they have aired) with all their popular TV shows, making them available via torrents on bbc.co.uk, this is somethnig i would be extremely happy to pay a bit extra for on my TV license.
I hope Microsoft take over Macrovision, then we can have Microsoft and Macrosoft. Microsoft can deal with insecure software and Macrosoft can deal with securing copyrights, what a world it will be then!
I put porn in and the third result was about Lexmark, now I don't see how Lexmark's hardware relates to the pornographic industry, but hey, microsoft say so so it must be right:)
Does this mean my parents would now be able to view my perfectly legal porno collection if they installed it on my machine ? better get hiding it! Oh no wait I don't live with my parents, what a relief:)
*BSD struggles a with hardware support, this is the main reason that people are slow on the uptake of it for applications such as this, I would be all for *BSD, I use it on a regular basis and am pleased with it however I always install it on older machines so the hardware is supported.
Yet another large group to make use of open source. Lets just hope this trend keeps moving forward and we see many more take up the initiative, not a bad application for a free piece of software, hopefully this will show others tha tthis is one possible way forward!
You have to take it in context, it is news for readers who live in the UK where the service has not been offered before and is a significant improvement on the speeds we currently get here!
Don't forget that this will also mean 3rd party manufacturers of cartridges will have to adopt this technology, therefore meaning higher expenses for them and the time it takes for them to make compatible cartridges meaning, alas, everyone has to buy HP cartridges, so don't tell me this isn't a profit grabbing mechanism!
Yet another move forward in the ubuiquity of computing, not long before we don't even know we are using computing technology and everything is done automatically for us, scary or a move forward ?

They didnt mention that everyone on the craft had to blow really hard in the opposite direction when they started getting near to slow them down?
Mars in a month is great but when are we going to reach warp 9 :)
