    Meatfucker was unique, and outcast for his behavior, that sort of thing was highly frowned upon.
    The drone intellect is far superior to humans (never mind the GSV minds) but there was a balance struck, and even the drones admitted humans had resources not available to them.
    Humans (and the other bipedal species) were also varied genetically, could successfully reproduce with an alien species and could become the opposite gender as well, strange days there.

    I think Iain creating the Culture and putting machines (essentially) in charge was a statement on human behavior more than anything else.

    And yes I will miss him, he died too young and I'm sad there will be no more books form him, one of my favorite authors.

    There an interesting video the other day http://boingboing.net/2013/12/31/jacob-appelbaums-must-watch.html I believe he mentions the NSA and hacking wireless routers, perhaps they created it.
    additional several router models are susceptible to a hack so easy it's ridiculous, namely adding a certain user agent string to your browser lets you in.

    I personally don't use wireless at home any longer,

    Iain M Banks Culture series, some of the best SciFi I have ever read, I still chuckle every time I think of the drone bringing the body-less human head (still alive) the gift of a hat.

    I had the pleasure to find this, it is (they are) a BRUTAL read, but it was worth it.

    OK so here's my vision of the future, robot mining, robots transport ore to foundry, robots process ore to material, robots take material to factory, robots manufacture, robots deliver, robots repair, robots construct, robots guard, robots farm, robots fight wars.
    All that's needed, even at this point, would be a functional AI, and some of the AI work I've seen is coming along "nicely".

    Crazy right? Read too much SciFi right? I'm guessing if things progress as I see them that some where around 8 or 9 billion people will be around when this robot revolution is a real thing.
