    I am pretty sure you can't run setup of VPC in full screen mode, as when you initially install, you need to install or update additions. I have VPC running right now... and yes, we are trying to crack this nut...

    Exactly, well said, Virtual Machines work fine... I utilize Virtual windows servers on windows servers running VMware. and I also have had VPC installed on my AlumPB, two different win installations, perfect for my online banking that needs IE6.0 or meaner. And, in my opinion, the challenge has been presented. Someone will make it work by hook or by crook... just like I always say, challenge a human and loose..... cause they will find a way to beat you.

    I moved from the Chicago area to The Hague. This doesn't apply much to a cross country move, but purge as much as you humanly can, and purge more. I moved with two suit cases and a bicycle in a box. If you can get it to that, remember, they always make more.... Yes, I know this is environmentally abusive, but if you can sell or give away to friends or donate, you will not be so horrible. 90% of what didn't sell at my midwest yard sale, was on the curb at dusk, and by dawn it had been pretty much picked clean! And when you think you have purged enough, think again!

    W2K3Esp1 on W2K3 servers, clustered two nodes.
    educational institute, probably 800 mail boxes, 500gb stoage(mail and file), not scratching the surface...
    Faculty: the warning comes at 100mb that is all we do for them. It really scares them, they clean up, and it's only a warning! For what we call sophisticated users (read: counselors, admin, business office), we bump the quota on an as needed basis.
    Students: Warning at 40mb, cut off send at 50mb, can recieve at all times.
    IT Department: No quota! it's good to be the KING.
    We periodically check users mail box size, we like a good laugh once in a while! So that is our management tool-HUMOR!

    This is a good topic, I store tons of stuff in e-mail. Always accessible. Saved my ass on "personal assistance" calls more than once.... I guess, I could set up an ftp, but does every client you visit have an ftp client installed? and can they install one? permissions?

    I have put hours into this one second of the Simpson's intro. I have frame-by-framed the whole clip from where Homer tosses it out the window/cut to bart on the skateboard/ the rod appears to bounce and disappear, not landing on the skateboare at all, as this is the point where Bart is using the lamppost to redirect himself. I have a degree in film(so i get way more jokes than average joe), editing was my focus... and The Simpson's are one of my all-time favorite t.v shows.

    Score: 1pt. please... I have no links, and have dropped no big names in tech.... Don't worry, I am used to only getting the boobie prize of 1 pt.

    I'm a Network engineer, but also wear the hat of HellDesk Manager... We tried an in house home brew ticking and tracking system using FMP, but it wasn't what "Administration" wanted. We have just implemented OneorZero(tx JFK). So far, it kicks ass. We made the donation to get the latest version, and life is good. We can generate reports that "Administration" can understand. We have only scratched the surface of what this software can do. We are building an extensive KB from our tickets, and we hope the users might look at their past tickets for solutions to their "same old problem." So, check it out, you owe it to yourself. ;-}

    It's a dumb idea, however, the only reason to go with one brand/model of computer is standardization. I don't have to know about some quirk in the IBM Stinkpad, or some hidden partition in an HP/compaq. I image 300+ winlaptops every summer for the school where I work, now I have 5 different models with 5 completely different hardware configs.... the images are hardware specific to a point.... I am fed up with having all those win images around for various grade levels. To that end, I am building a total unattended installer with all drivers and apps, and network/domain settings. We are a small institution 1500 users max... I would hate to deal with a larger educational organization in a "program' such as this. From the users viewpoint this type of program is riddled with problems, it is half baked to say the least.

    I wouldn't touch a pc based program like this, it would have to be Apple or nothing. But a program like this is just stupid, (I will learn first hand soon enough too) The school I work for is contemplating such a program for Faculty as a pilot(read: students are NEXT)
    Yes, FURIOUS with out admin rights, and you were FURIOUS when you saw the bill for school... you are learning one of the lessons of life. Look at like this, you don't have admin rights to your new car with more chips than your crappy dell, why should a cheap computer be any different? Especially when they school you are FURIOUS with over tuition tells you this is a tool for the next 4 years (or more) "We want it to funcion as such for the duration." Don't get upset with me... that is how it is. I think it's a silly program.

    A better Idea would be to supply you with the computer, FREE, but charge PREMIUM prices to fix it..... here is the admin password, fuck it up all you want, bring your daddy's cash when you come back, I will have my wheelbarrow.... This is the best idea....!!!!

    I work at an American K-12 in Europe 1400 users, 700 computers-half win, half mac, and get 5 weeks some U.S holidays plus local holidays, and no limit on sick days... I won't be buying a BMW on what I make, but it's a good atmosphere, my colleagues are quite knowledgeable, I learn new tricks everyday.
