    there is a console on the win-rack itself, in ther server room, but we use a combo of ARD and RDC to connect to the servers from our desks. NO monitors on any Apple servers...and 35% of the win servers have no monitors physically connectd. We have a great remote set up...

    Gotta have'm, 90% of our servers are now running headless(yikes) where have all the monitors gone? As for all the other slots, I guess it was poor planning from the beginning. But if you look at the market as being constantly in the state of BETA! then it all makes fucking sense.... just my two euro cents. Wait a damn, minute, as long as I have been drinking, and can type..Does the fact that MS has stopped support for some OS's now and others soon, that they have finally found all the bugs, and do not need to support their product???

    What a waste of my time, half of the movies were not sci-fi... if anyone thinks starwars is a sci-fi movie series, they need to really read the stories... They are revamped Westerns.... Lucas is no dummy.... all he did was tell some classic hero stories from the western movie genre in a differnet setting, do a few SFX make it sci fi? IMHO no.

    I have been reading the comments on this comment.... I am so glad I was never forced into any religion. I practice nothing organized to this day... my Saturdays are free, my Sundays are free, except for tennis, but those clothes are much more comfortable than my Sunday best... I just try to be a good human being, and better myself each day if I can... isn't that enough?

    here is how it happened... The system needed to be updated, but the WSUS wouldn't update until the computer account was in the Admin container..... put the computer in the admin container... hmmm, now the computer is its own administrator! I just read that while studying for my MCSE Cert ;-) scary

    My collegue(mac guru) has named half a dozen in the past week, VPC will run native, iEmulator, guestpc just to name the three I can remember... WINE I believe he mentioned as running native as well.... I was hung over... the whole week is a blurr.... virtually?

    I guess I lucked out! My mom has been a programmer at both of our alma-matter , she graduated from there one month, and had a FT job the next. I graduated about 9 years later from the same institution (no opp for slashdotting here) She retires this year, after 25+ years, and will probably not code ever again, ~ "Anything but programming and computers!" "I'll grow flowers anything but computers and programming." almost her exact words ;-} She worked with a couple great guys the whole time, and they are headed out to pasture at some time soon too... Oh, yeah, I'm a guy and just a network engineer, we ended up in the same broad field by completely seperate interests... that's pretty cool. Maybe some day I will return to my alma-matter and work there too, I hear they might need help...

    I knew there was no more firewire when I tried to attach my daughter's new iPod video with the firewire from her iPod, and got the message this device does not support firewire transfers..... This was at christmas.... before the big party in S.F.

    Sign me as a Gamer, who gamed long ago when all your home system played was pong or double pong(hockey) who fed many a quarters into Asteroids, Asteroids Deluxe, Space Invaders deluxe too, and an all time favorite BattleZone....

    ..I worked with Homer at the Nuclear(nu-cle-ar) plant, Uranium was used to generate the heat, to heat the water, to make the steam, to turn the turbines... I don't recall much being copper.

    If we are that hard up for copper, start mining the garbage dumps, there is probably tons of copper there, clean out every wishing well from Portland to Portland.... shake down every homeless person for their pennies, and force nickels on them, warning them you will probably be back some day for those too...

    never bitten the head off of a chicken, live or dead. Has anyone looked up the traditional meaning of "geek"? please... I'd rather be the CD (computer dude) BC (big cheese, I work at a school), TG (tech guy) one 9 yr. old said "I want to be a wizard when I grow up too." but please, Geek^2, "A carnival performer who does wild or disgusting acts." Which had always been number one, until the Tech Era is not what I what to be associated with! Sorry case closed, end of story, hatchet buried, loose ends tied up, etc, etc...

    yeah, yeah, I graduated (HS) in the early 80's, and I do realize that language is a virus... Thanks Laurie Anderson...

    Here is just another example of technology "putting the blinders on" users and sheltering them from life, sure you might have to put up with the smelly old guy who asks, "how's it hangin young feller?" just to ride the normal elevator that everybody rides, but that might just be the social interaction we geeks need to "break the ice." If things much smarter, you will be told who to date, like it or not....

    Or take the freaking stairs, you will be buff soon enuff, then the redhead from the mailroom might think you got it goin' on!

    I work with an apple guru... he says there is some software called iEmulator that will run native on the intelmac, as well as a new release of VPC, which I use on occoasion, and have good success with, on a medicore 15" alum. PB As long as I have IE 5.5+ for the dwindling few sites that still require it, I will need a dual boot, or Virtual option.
